Criminals gonna criminal. Penalties for impersonating a federal officer should be pretty stiff. Just to be safe: if an ICE agent attempts to arrest you, demand to see their ID. It's the law.
Considering the dozens and dozens of videos I've seen of ICE agents not complying with this lawful request, it does not seem to be the law any more
Is that before or after they shove you into the back of an unmarked vehicle? Oh here's one that's well worth watching. I'd really appreciate your feelings about this...and no it's not just an isolated incident...
Or how about proportional force. One of those guys is gonna a gun shoved up his ass on live tv...of course whoever does that will probably ending up looking like Sonny Corelone after the toll booth ambush...
Me getting my head smacked into the concrete: "Excuse..." "me..." "...sir" "...but" "...could" "...you" "...do" "...me" "...the" "...favor" "...of" "...identif..." "...ying" "...yourself?" "...I" "...have" "...a" "...right" "...to" "...know."
Interesting question. I'd say if the totality of the evidence is that they actually are ICE, then no. If it's some random dude on the street, maybe yes.
I'd actually argue yes they are. The FBI even acknowledged it is reasonable to expect that a masked, unidentified person claiming to be ICE might not be ICE. Under those circumstances, one would have reason to defend themselves under, for instance, Florida’s Stand Your Ground laws.
Don't know about Florida, but I understand that there is case law in Arizona stating that SYG justifies defending yourself with force against cops who are not clearly identified.
I'm sure you'd happily cooperate if masked goons with no ID grabbed you and tried to shove you into the back of an unmarked van.
I think it's the former. Miller and the rest are hoping that the agents are met with violence so they can crack down even harder.
Could be. The election results have the Trumpistas on the back foot for the first time in who knows how long. As long as people are convinced that non-violent protests and voting can make a difference the chances of widespread violence aren't that great. If Trump tries to pull some sort of really heavy handed stunt like cancelling the mid-terms all bets would be off.
i have known several idiot's in my 70 years hell been one on occasion myself but i have not encountered the level and consistency that this idiot displays....you should turn yourself over to science (ooops you might not believe in science) you could be a famous case study for idiotocraty just thik you could become famous as the idiots idiot. gun fetisher
I know the bootlickers will just say that if the law is doing things like this then they must be good.
If an ICE agent pulled a gun on Paladin for "following him", would @Paladin have licked the ICE officer's boots or exercised his 2nd Amendment rights?
Paladin isn't pulling a gun on anyone unless he is being credibly threatened with imminent bodily harm. And plain clothes law enforcement is a thing. The FBI doesn't wear uniforms and neither do police detectives. Anyone--cop, fed, or civilian--who goes about armed needs to be aware of that when intervening in such a situation.
The hypothetical involves a gun being pointed directly at you by a plain clothed person. The plain clothes police officers committing crimes also wear boots. Boots for you.
