The weirdness of the Quantum Realm reminded me of Heavy Metal magazine art, and the humor harkened to Heavy Metal. The weirdo nostalgia of it tickled my geek fancy, I suppose. It's a fucking drag. It's hard to put my finger on, but everything is just..."off". And it came right off of the Holiday Special, and that one was as happy and fun as parts 1 & 2. James Gunn admits he was in a negative headspace when he wrote 3. So even he knows it's off. Quantumania oddly gave me that happy Guardians 1-2 feeling. Those are cherries on the sundae, but her being teeny, and no one observing it; I took that as unintended humor. Like Baby Groot being lethal. Fuck star rankings. I'm always OCD re-adjusting that shit like a scoreboard abacus until my eyes bleed.
Quantumania was...meh. The Ant-Man films are near the bottom in my Marvel rankings anyway, and this one didn't do a whole lot to change that for me. Guardians 3 was...okay. I'd say my enjoyment was down from the prior installments. The car door gag almost redeems it. Thor: Love and Thunder should've been great. It had everything going for it. And it was...also okay. Big step down from Ragnarok. Haven't seen The Marvels, and haven't fully seen Brave New World, either. Deadpool and Wolverine absolutely rocked. Easily my favorite of Phase 5. Thunderbolts* was solid and exceeded expectations, and the theme of fighting depression was surprisingly poignant.
I wouldn't have guessed, but I'm not shocked. It really is the "Plan 9" or "The Room" of Marvel movies. People are compelled to check a thing like that out.
Well it was fairly easy to guess, given what thread this is (even though technically, Madame Web isn't in the MCU).
