This all seems to me like a way to suck tax dollars into pointless programs that do not work and basically skim money off of the universities by hiring a bunch of do nothing know nothing psychologists and security people who all have one mission which is to shut everyone up.
The Gillibrand bill is to make sure they don't pass it off to law enforcement - and handle it with their kangaroo courts where the defendant isn't questioned, nor is any real evidence required. It's all about feelings. It the universities don't comply, they get their revenue taken away.
No, they were doing it before, but you did not give a damn because there was not a black president to blame. One might get the idea, listening to republitards, that america was all happy and successful before he took office. Please do stop believing your own bullshit. Obama did not bring in all these problems. He shares a part in them presently, but these things would exist without him because it has been this way for a while. If you really believe Obama has made all these problems you are one sad deluded fucker. Really, Obama is not that powerful. He is not that smart. He does not have that much money. He is not even old enough to have started these things. They have you fooled because you are strung along by your racism and hate. The people who feed you this bullshit are getting together at bilderburg or whatever the fuck that thing is and laughing their ass off at you while they have you chasing your own tail.
To a certain extent it is the victims fault for going to the rent a cop in the first place. If i were raped the only reason I would be dealing with the campus wannabe police would be if they had found me after the attack. Yes, i know they are directing you, but you have a right to demand a real badge. Really, I would tell them to go play with the mall security while i contacted the actual police and pressed charges the right way. Perhaps this is a good way to learn to never trust some corporate douchebag to get things done. They are not cops. They are CYA guys. The only problem is the ass they are covering is the university and not yours. There are moments in my life that I know had I actually been born a girl i would be in jail for assault or homicide on some stupid condescending fucker that was just trying to brush me under the carpet and protect one of his bros. Well ok, when it actually happened to me for being transgendered TWC did have to destroy a number of computers, and evidently they were worried about a terrorist attack. Something about RPG notes left in my desk that people took way too seriously. One of my friends was actually asked what the code was about arrows +3 magic. That is our secret service guys for you. I am actually amazed they have not accidentally shot the president yet.
They can stop with questions like asking what type of clothing was she wearing or how often she goes out at night or require a character witness to save her case as I saw on one old school soap opera story from 1987. The sad part is that is one of the soap stables that still has resonance today.
Some schools were doing it before, especially the more liberal ones in blue states, but not many SEC type schools were. So now all schools are being compelled to jump off the crazy cliff or lose their federal funding.
But even that case was tried within the legal system -- in a real court, with a judge, jury and lawyers, and with Simpson fully able to defend himself. There is a real strain of thought, on many college campuses, of "all rape accusations should be presumed true, and colleges should throw the reasonable doubt standard out the window." That said, there does not appear to be anything in Gillibrand's bill that actually does the things gturner is claiming it does. The closest it gets to dictating anything about colleges' discipline policies is saying that they have to have one policy across all departments -- that is, they can't have the athletic department handle complaints against athletes and the Dean of Students handle complaints against everyone else.
And what does "coordinate" mean? Nothing. Toward the end of the bill they list the sanctions colleges will face for not bowing the Social Justice Warriors. Somehow colleges did just fine for centuries without such measures.
No, I am pretty sure red state schools were covering up rape and trying to do things themselves long ago. It was so obvious in the 80's that they even made some comedies about it. The world was not a place of sunshine and lollipops before Obama. Obama did not ruin america, it was already fucked up. The right wing did a good share of fucking things up and sharing in those profits also. Actually it seems the republicans took it way more seriously than anyone of us could have imagined because even the old school parodies do not equal what they do today. If you wish to go running over to the republican side with their giant ass raping machine out in full view please do feel free, but I am not joining you in pretending this is all obama's fault and we can just turn our backs on the republican ass ram and pretend we are not getting fucked. Dude, I am pretty sure that they fucked you so hard they broke the little gerbil wheel in your head and now the poor little guy is dead and the flies are all that is left causing you to move about.
If by "bowing to the Social Justice Warriors" you mean "making sure there are employees on campus with training in how to deal with sexual assault, having the same single discipline process across all departments (whatever that process may be), and conducting surveys," then I guess you're right. But the bill's actual requirements are far, far less than you seem to think they are. Either you're intentionally lying or you've bought somebody else's lie hook, line and sinker because it fits your ideological preconceptions. Which is it?
Why the fuck should parents of college kids be paying the salaries of "powerless" campus employees whose only use is to be redundant and stir up trouble? Does your local gas station have people who are trained to deal with sexual assault? Does your Taco Bell? Does your local high school? Instead, why don't we make them hire Catholic priests who are trained and experienced in demonic possession? Wouldn't we all be better off if every enterprise had a Catholic priest who could recognize the signs and perform the proper rituals? Heck, even the Pilgrims were better able to contend with such threats than we are.
The fact that you view providing adequate counseling for rape victims as "stirring up trouble" speaks volumes. Does your local gas station or Taco Bell have thousands of young adults living inside it 24/7, in constant close proximity to each other and with easy access to alcohol? Um ... yes, my local high school probably does have people on staff who know how to deal with sexual assault. If it doesn't, it should. And you still haven't proven any of the random shit you made up about the bill mandating kangaroo courts.
That you assume the were actually raped, as opposed to sexual assaulting their boyfriend's roommate when he was passed out or reaching out to hold their girlfriend's hand for the thousandth time without explicit permission recorded on camera speaks volumes. Yes, they do. Sexual assault can happen anywhere, as can demonic possession. Let's all be hysterical together. We know all the rapists and demons are concentrated among the campus youth. We will purge the forces of unseeable darkness that hides among us using tools that regular law enforcement and courts can't provide, by probing the feelings and dreams of the victims. Many are assaulted by Succubi that Satan has unleashed in waves to bring about Christ's downfall, while others are seduced by dark relics of the spirit world. Only by throwing standard legal protections out the window can we hope to combat this onslaught of penis wielding warriors from Hell. As I said, when I was in college The Crucible was a warning, not a procedural manual.
It is possible to acknowledge the existence of sexual assault on campus without wanting to ignore due process and bring back the Salem witch trials. Only a shrieking loon who's mentally incapable of seeing anything other than extremes would think otherwise.
The campus left and the Obama administration are full of shrieking loons. Women on campus get raped less often than women who aren't, yet we don't set up special kangaroo courts with special rules of evidence off campus. Gillibrand keeps citing wildly debunked rape statistics, claiming that even those understate the number of rapes by a factor of five or six. It's madness. The big problem on campus is the number of people being beheaded and dismembered by violent maniacs under the influence of reefer madness. Smoking just one joint can result in mass murder. Until we get the epidemic of weed-fueled massacres under control by any means possible, even summary executions and free fire zones, no woman will be safe. As I said, when I went to college The Crucible was a warning, not a manual.
In wake of what happened at Cornell, I figured that this deserved another look. I think gturner kept bringing up the victim who carried the mattress in other threads as well, but this one shows that Gillibrand’s bill didn’t do enough, regardless of if it had become a law or not.
