Yep, time for its own dedicated thread. First bit of new news: The series takes place 8 years after "Revenge Of The Sith". http://collider.com/obi-wan-kenobi-tv-show-timeline-explained/ "Solo: A Star Wars Story", starts 7 years after, then jumps 3 years to 10 years after for the rest of the movie. So, Obi-Wan is one year after Solo's flashback. Or, just round it off to before Solo. Or, just delete Solo if you hated it, I don't care.
Obi Wan director has been found. https://deadline.com/2019/09/obi-wa...e-veteran-to-direct-disney-series-1202746939/
Ewan McGregor just admitted he knew all along he was doing the Obi-Wan spinoff and he was lying all along. Fuckin' Lucasfilm.
Jar-Jar is coming back! I've said for a long time, Jar-Jar needs a redemption. You shove this guy in our face, pretend he's important....then he fades into the background? I don't care how much you hate the character, that just doesn't make story sense. I need closure.
As much as I hated Jar Jar as shown in the prequel trilogy, I am all about redeeming that which was once considered lost. I'd love it if they could do something useful with Jar Jar Binks without making him into (once again) an idiot quasi-Rastafarian stereotype.
I guess I’ll just treat like when you haven’t gotten laid in a long time and some fat chick wants to ride your dick, “let’s just get this over with.”
I would be more interested in a pre-anakin Obi-wan series with Qui-Gon and him. Their chemistry was really good, and I think it would show more of Obi-Wan being more kick ass. Do the creators even get a grasp of the plot of the movies? Obi-Wan has to be a target of the empire in the Vader years. Even if he isn't the rumors of a Jedi doing things should be attracting Vader and the emperor based on their plans and prophecies. Yoda goes to some jungle planet where no one lives, and Obi-wan is on a desert planet no one goes to overlook luke. It makes no sense for them to be galavanting around doing Jedi things and bringing attention to themselves. Meanwhile you could ogive them a role pre-anakin where they make their reputation actually doing some big things. Or maybe we actually start with some new characters and do some new things. If we are going to play on the same old characters maybe we should crossover with other disney properties like the MCU to cash in on bullshit. Can we have Iron man in an alternate universe finding himself running from boba fett because that would give the comic book geeks a massive cum shot followed by heartbreak when they see what disney does with it.
We need to start considering the theme music for the show: Obi-Wan! Obi-Wan! Does whatever a Jedi can! Mind tricks fools Blows up TIEs Cuts Darth Maul Down to size Look out! Here comes Obi-Wan!
Has the Force? Listen, bud He's got midichlorians in his blood Does he lie? Never, fool All depends on your point of view Reach out! Here comes old Obi-Wan
I think a cool premise for the new Obi-Wan series would be to team him up with a tricked out landspeeder with built in AI and lots of high tech science fictiony gadgets. Give the landspeeder's AI a sassy but refined personality. It would be a hit! Or, you could have Obi-Wan leading a team of special Clone Commandos who were imprisoned during the Clone Wars for a crime they didn't commit. They broke out of an Imperial stockade and now live in the Anchorhead underground as soldiers of fortune. ORRRRR, wait, this is the winner: Obi-Wan has three sons, and he winds up marrying a woman with three daughters! He learns how to navigate the treacherous waters of modern family dynamics!
The biggest part of the appeal of an Obi-Wan show is Ewan McGregor, and he's 25 years too old to play a pre-TPM Obi-Wan.
In an attempt to undo the Sith Uprising, he uses nascent time travel technology to leap back in time only to be stuck in different people one after the other. Before he can complete his core mission he must put right which once went wrong for alien he leaps into.
And if you re-cast a younger Obi-Wan, it'll be like Solo. "That's not the guy I like from my childhood!! Nobody asked for this! I'm not gonna go see it!! ". *Sees it years later on Netflix* "Oh, that's really not so bad. ".
I guess the recast would probably suck. I totally could have gone for a few movies with OW and QG played by their original actors doing jedi things across the galaxy. Forget the kid, and just have their adventures.
There's a rumor that Disney is thinking of reworking it back into a movie again. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/s...-make-the-disney-series-a-movie-again-a172873
Ewan says the doomsday talk about "creative differences", is bullshit. https://www.darkhorizons.com/mcgregor-explains-the-kenobi-delay/
I don’t think that it’s too much of a stretch to think that they saw how big of a hit The Mandolorian has been and decided that they needed to make some changes. They’ve got a lot of pressure on them to succeed. You don’t want to be the Voyager following DS9. You want to be Picard following Discovery.
Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka will reportedly cameo! Well, Rosario tied together the Daredevil-verse, here we go again!
Casting call makes it look like the Skywalker twins as kids will be in it. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/s...confirm-young-luke-and-leia-a177181#gs.c29myn
