They were invented by the Chinese about 2400 years ago. You remember the nutbag who built a slingshot capable of firing chainsaws? He's now selling repeating crossbows. It's $450.
yeah but do you have to have his arms to cock it? I'll wait for the semi-automatic version. And shouldn't this be under camp gunforge?
I have one - not top-of-the-line but it generates 84 pounds of kinetic energy. To put that into perspective that's enough for any game animal in North America such as moose, brown bear, etc. It has a about a 200 pound draw weight. So using a hunting broad head that's three razor blades hitting at about 300 feet-per-second. Crossbows are very loud though - so when you pull the trigger it's about as loud as slamming the trunk on a car. Here's a picture of it from my thread about it in camp word forge. It's a little under three months until deer bow season opens and I'm going full-bore into "predator" mindset already!
Nah, this guy's not nearly as muscled and doesn't seem to have any problem with it. Give Jörg a couple of months and he'll probably have one. Why?
Agree this belongs in techforge because the focus is on the new technology of the semi-auto crossbow versus a regular crossbow. That said from the hunting aspect this technology would be great for the often needed "follow up" shot because some critters don't die quickly no matter where they are hit, or with what type of weapon. The cocking mechanism doesn't add much weight to the crossbow either which is a plus.
are you kidding? he could cock it with his brow. kinder campforge doesn't have enough traffic. I've tried to spam it up with home improvements. I guess I'll get busy again.
Too bad you've bailed on us, because not only is there a semi-auto version, but it's also 3D printed.
