Well, my dad seems to be enjoying retirement. He just texted me saying he is currently in Marion, IL and will be all set to view the total eclipse tomorrow. That is a long ass drive from San Diego.

He and his girlfriend got themselves a motorhome and a trailer to tow one of their cars. He even bought himself a little motor scooter for putting around at camp sites so chasing the total eclipse seems right up hos alley.

The nachos came without BBQ sauce. But they had vinegar, tomato, and a mustard sauce available. I liked the vinegar based on my nachos.

After checking in to the rooms, and taking a bit to rest we decided to try out the Carolina Bauernhaus. They have some damn good beers.

    Houston, we have landed.

thanks to Mr. ed we have found beverages of the alcoholic kind. In SC. On a Sunday.

In anticipation of our visit, General Lee was raised out of reach. Child proofing southern style.

The more alcohol I can find, the closer I realize my ambitions of becoming a full blown alcoholic. Everyone has to have goals.

FYI, there's a number of free apps out there to help you track the eclipse and know exactly when it's going to occur based on your location. I've got Eclipse Safari from space.com that I'm using.

Here are the vids that I took. You can see a bit of the shadow bands in one video if you look closely. Watch the timelapse at full res and pay close attention to the shadows cast by the trees on the lower right.

This reply is coming several weeks late, but the eclipse was interesting to see. I borrowed a pair of those eclipse sunglasses to see it. I saw the Sun covered over ~75% .
