Real PC nonsense, real censorship, AZ fascist legislator wants to ban any campus events that discuss racial solidarity or use the term social justice. I get the idea that people can disagree with such terms and activities, but banning such discourse from campus? Give me a fucking break, Rep. Thorpe. Discuss!
So, have you actually read the bill in question? http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/53leg/1R/bills/HB2120P.htm
Conservatives playing the liberal game (setting the school morality standards) is not a good look for them. The liberals have decades of practice doing this.
Conservatives always played this game. They were the ones banning and burning books back in the day. They have religious schools to censor student exposure to the world. They banned the teaching of evolution in schools. They try to keep out non Christian and atheist ideas from schools. If liberals are doing censorship they are merely copying conservatives.
No it doesn't. The law does exactly what the OP says; the OP description is pretty much a direct quote of section A.2.
When I look at that picture the screaming kids in the background seem so disgusting looking. Before @oldfella1962 starts claiming I hate white people again, it is just not an attractive look. When you break it down it is a sort of warfare, and a warfare is not supposed to be attractive. The girl in front looks far better because she is not screaming like a rabid dog. The deplorables are out there shouting and hating. If you look at the face of a cheerleader who is shouting positive encouragement to their team you will notice their faces are not twisted with anger.
And how many conservatives politically active today had a hand in this or approve of this? Democrats have done their share of "oppressing" but if I bring that up, liberals say "the party has changed - that's ancient history". So I guess it's my turn to say "that was in the past". Most conservatives of today were children or not even alive when this picture was taken.
You say this while the alt right is blatantly proving you wrong. It does not matter that a bunch of them were not born when this happened, but they do have the same flag and rhetoric. It is not ancient history for the dixiecrats aka republicans, aka conservative right, aka alt right.
That's a very hard argument to make days away from the inauguration of the first KKK-endorsed President in one and a half generations.
It is also a pretty stupid argument considering anyone without a elementary whitewashed knowledge of history knows the movement that presently supports trump abandoned the democrats for the republican party way back when.
Except the conservatives haven't really changed at all since this picture. Toss a hijab on a brown skinned girl and there's a more than acceptable chance she'll face that other face at least once in her day. Besides, the democrats of that era were still socially conservative... the point stands.
Trump can't help who endorses him, as long as Trump doesn't support the KKK. BTW the KKK are a fucking joke - they just want attention because nobody comes to their speeches and events.
And again, I refer to Obama's pastor who made his comments years before Obama had any inkling to run and he made quick work of putting some distance between himself and Wright.
If only he weren't such a shy person, he might have found the courage to say something about it -- at least one of the fifteen times he was asked about it, if not of his own accord.
little known story, that girl and the black girl went on to eventually reconnect and were friends for a good while but, IIRC, the white girl struggled with guilt so much they kind of drifted apart
Trump took months to eventually have a disavowal drug out of him on 60 minutes, meanwhile SNL can't even get off the airwaves for the night until we know what he thinks of them. If it was a priority to distance himself from them, he'd be quick about it. Also, he was caught in a straight up lie denying he knew who David Duke even was, and he has white nationalist working as advisors to him even now.
Southern Democrats of that era are Republicans now and have been since the 70's, which is no secret. Those who hadn't already shifted bolted after the IRS forced integration on Bob Jones U.
for those who talk about the flag being heritage and history, they never seem to explain why it's so popular among certain folks in Michigan and Indiana and Idaho and so forth
I can show you at least one http://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/a-picture-is-worth-a-thousand-memories/
I was just reading something about that, except it also seemed the white girl was kind of getting a little proud of herself... if not downright exploitative for the publicity. Book deals and such-maybe even a shot at Oprah.
It's wrong no matter who does it. The shoe has found itself on the other foot, and FIRE unfortunately finds itself with no shortage of work. I would point out, however, that anyone discussing "social justice" is likely in no danger of discussing racial solidarity.
