Deer Day Afternoon...

I assume these deer pictures are from a camera mounted to a rifle, and you simply need more practice.

Had a beautiful sunset yesterday, and the sunset setting on the camera got a little excited


Here's a more accurate coloration, still beautiful:

Capt John and Lt Mary find something... glowy.

They should probably shoot it before it zaps the only redshirt in sight . . . because you know that's how this will end.

I may have inadvertently nailed the "Scruffy old mercenary haunted by the ghosts of dead comrades" look.

I pulled Miniwood's first tooth tonight. It had reached the point where it was about to fall out on its own. We were curled up on the couch watching The Alternative Factor and I just reached around and snatched it.

None of these are mine; I cribbed them off my friend's facebook page. It seems he went for an early morning hike in Cuyamaca today.






He says he also found a fair amount of damage from wild pig furrows (where they dug for worms and grubs, old acorns, and then wallow in the mud).

you know I never have seen a chipmunk up in a tree. They run along the ground and find something to hide under. You have a gifted chipmunk on your hands there!

yes pigs are very damaging critters! They are the biggest nuisance around.

Meanwhile, the Yard Deer show today started right outside my window.

that last deer in the series looks like it's showing off & posing for a glamor picture! I see it has a boo-boo on it's left hind leg - an open sore above it's hoof. It's a healthy looking fawn though!

I wish I had deer friends in my neighborhood! We have lots of friendly squirrels and bunnies, but no deer.

I notice they all have some sort of scar somewhere on their bodies. Hazards of running thru the bushes and hopping fences, I guess.

yes it is. Most adult deer have scars from fences, predators, arrows, bullets, etc.

Chipmunk snack tray!

I had a great opportunity today for a funnt deer photo, but I had no camera. There was a doe feeding right next to a "no hunting" sign where I parked my car to go scouting for....wait for it....deer season opening up next Saturday. Yeah, I honked the horn at it, played the car radio full blast and waved at it, but it still wouldn't run off int the woods. Eventually once I started walking into the actual "hunting" area and whistled at her she perked up and stared at me, then went back to eating underneath the no hunting sign.
I'm not saying deer can read or have a great sense of irony/humor, but it sure seems that way!
