June is Pride Month in the United States. It's a good time for people in the LGBTQ2IAA+ movements to do their thing, have parades, wear rainbow colors, and be as open and free as you can, and it's also a good time to learn about our history. We celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride month in remembrance of the Stonewall Riots that occurred at the Stonewall Inn in New York City in June and July of 1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, well known as a hot spot for the LGBTQ+ community, and the patrons fought back against them for their repeated harassment of the community. It is important that we remember the lessons of the past, and to always push back against forces that want to marginalize us, suppress us, dismiss us, and even kill us. Here's an article that takes a brief trip through ancient history showing how LGBTQ+ people lived before the modern age changed things. I'm honestly surprised Trump hasn't made a bigger deal about Pride month this year. I'm truly worried we're going to see a mass shooting or something at a Pride event this month. The bigots are emboldened, sure, but the really crazy bigots just need a tweet or two to get enraged. Scary times. We're not as far away from Stonewall as we think.
I agree, and it's something I worry about when reading the news. Someone is going to do something truly stupid and I believe Trump would use it as an excuse to shut down Pride parades or much, much worse.
Honestly, I really don't care what these people do amongst themselves. Live and let live. At this point it's just a form of entertainment for most.
Glad you're with the times. Unfortunately many aren't, and so for those who would still support discrimination and exclusionary laws, events like Pride are important as a public sign that society isn't going back there.
I wouldn't characterize myself as being with the times. Note that I said "amongst themselves." That doesn't include their actions that affect others. Girl's sports, private spaces, and children need to be protected from their lifestyle choices.
Yeahno, just being gay or trans isn't affecting other people unless those people choose to let it affect them.
When I am ceded control of the planet, I am making this the mandatory uniform of every military service branch:
Believe it or not, this is very difficult for me. I want to be liked, I want to be loved, and I want people to be my friend. Sometimes, though, I have to choose whether I want a friend or whether I want to protect people being marginalized or oppressed. The choice will always be to protect the marginalized and oppressed. It will always suck to be disliked or even hated, but bearing that is nothing compared to allowing persecution to persist.
Do you follow women's sports? I'd say that transsexuals affect them. This whole "movement" is designed to normalize and place these groups on a similar moral footing as the rest of society. While people may tolerate it, this is just never going to happen. I'll give you an example. I have a niece who just had a baby. She's going to "marry" her girlfriend whom she "coached" in college. Regardless of how messed up that is, I've been as polite as possible about it. Will we send a baby shower gift? No. Will we attend the wedding? Absolutely not. But it's her life and she should live it as she sees fit.

why not boys sports? which private spaces? bathrooms? ain't nobody's business if you're in a stall. children? I've got a buddy at work who's a great dad to two kids he gave birth to. his "lifestyle choices" include being a baseball fan and social worker.
Naked bicycling has been a Seattle tradition for over 50 years. Ever since Seattle v. Johnson (lololololol) nudity is legal in WA as long as it isn’t ‘lewd’. The Fremont Solstice Parade is the largest naked parade in the world.
I'm sorry you are the type of person to put your cult beliefs ahead of supporting your family. I'll be hoping that your heart finds love and acceptance.
Portland also has an annual Naked Bike Ride. Why are you ashamed of your body that you insist others cover up? For the children? That's teaching them to be ashamed of their bodies, and of their sexuality when they grow older, perpetuating the cycle.
