    Proposed Star Trek Episode Descriptions

These episode suggestions are for a series in the post Nemesis original time line set aboard a future starship Enterprise beginning about the years 2413-15 give or take.

The episodes do not have individual titles currently but I tried to keep them in rough order. These suggested episodes are spread over the 7-8 year run of a possible series.

    1) Series premier-two hour-A Starfleet task force rescues Admiral Carson Tower after 2 years of imprisonment by the Dominion-Tower later accepts a demotion in rank to command the Enterprise.

    2) The Enterprise crew is called in to evacuate a heavily populated habitat and contain a ravenous nanotech cloud.

    3) The Enterprise is sent to destroy or divert a huge asteroid threatening a Federation world. A mission that is complicated when the asteroid turns out to be a giant, intelligent life form.

    4) To prove that the Federation is worthy to join, an advanced race puts the ship and crew through a series of highly dangerous tests.

    5) Townsend tries to help a friend complete their research before their time on Enterprise ends. Meanwhile, Tower's insomnia drives the 3rd shift bridge crew crazy.

    6) Goldstein is part of a test of a temporal probe that accidentally connects his mind to that of Captain Jean Luc Picard 50 years earlier. Marsden learns a secret about his family.

    7) When Tower falls into a coma after a relatively mild fall, the main computer stops accepting orders from the crew.

    8) An experimental super weapon installed aboard the Enterprise seems to break down the nature of reality.

    9) The Enterprise is assigned to a massive fleet assembled to deal with a large scale incursion by the Borg. But the fleets command structure is riven with dissension and infighting.

    10) As Commander Goldstein struggles to repair a crippled Enterprise, Tower and Townsend face mortal danger on the frontier.

    11) Doctor Stafford suffers a paralyzing crisis of confidence when he freezes in a dangerous situation. He turns to Marsden for help.

    12) The Enterprise crew races an assorted group of Klingons Cardassians and others to secure a massive fleet of Husnock warships left drifting when their race was destroyed 50 years ago.

    13) When the Romulan home world falls, Tower is afflicted by debilitating nightmares.

    14) Goldstein, Townsend, and Marsden are temporarily reassigned to an experimental Starfleet ship. Tower struggles to deal with their replacements.

    15) A new powerful race, fascinated by the Koboyashi Maru scenario subject Captain Tower to recreations of five historical no win situations. Starting with Wolf-359

    16) Stafford is chosen to sit on a courtmartial board in a high profile case. A case that proves troubling to Stafford.

    17) When the crew is assigned a mission for which the Enterprise is ill suited, Tower must seek the help of a long time bitter rival. Captain Malcolm Fraser of the U.S.S. Discovery.

    18) When Enterprise serves as the site for a vital summit meeting, overzealous security consultants challenge Tower's authority.

    19) Townsend and Marsden are invited to join an expedition to be the first to climb the tallest mountain in the known galaxy.

    20) A series of attempts on the life of Captain Tower puzzles the crew and irritates the Captain.

    21) The promise of an incredible energy source appears when the Enterprise crew discovers a planet composed entirely of antimatter.

    22) The Enterprise crew encounters a legendary, supremely dangerous Borg tactical cube known as Leviathan.

    23) Townsend and Marsdens birthday gift to Captain Tower exposes an unknown mission by a starship 150 years ago.

    24) A planet's government challenges the Enterprise crew to a game of football against their planets all stars for the right to install a surveillance post in their solar system.

    25) Stafford and Marsden transport supplies to the Romulan resistance while Tower instigates a possible sighting of Leviathan.

    26) Leviathan and its escorts ambush and cripple the Enterprise leaving Tower, Goldstein, Townsend, and Marsden badly injured and an overwhelmed Stafford in command.

    27) Captain Tower rehabs from his injuries and battle stress by working on the farm of a retired officer.

    28) A Federation News Service team with a free hand and an axe to grind is assigned to the Enterprise as the crew faces critical performance reviews.

    29) The Enterprise crew must rescue a research team trapped within a Thorne-Zytkow star.

    30) A powerful predatory race agrees to only negotiate with Captain Tower but the request is a ploy in a complicated quest to gain access to the Enterprise’s weapons.

    31) Enterprise’s very existence is threatened when a specialized life form meant to assist in terraforming escapes from its containment vessel.

    32) After more than a year, the Enterprise crew finally tracks down Leviathan and forces it to stand and fight.

    33) While the crew enjoys its first real shore leave in ages, Captain Tower is forced to partner with Captain Malcolm Fraser in the Starbase 81 18 Hole Paired Scramble.

    34) Weeks after the Enterprise’s two escort ships are destroyed with loss of all hands the crew must sober up and clean up a derelict Captain Tower in order to save his career.

    35) The crew is thrown into an intense struggle between two factions above and below the surface of a mega Earth.

    36) The Borg began massing a fleet for their final attack on Earth. Starfleet assigns Tower to lead the defense of the planet.

    37) Starfleet rebuilds and Earth cleans up after the Borg attack. Captain Tower’s wife leaves him for the final time.

    38) With Enterprise preparing to depart, Tower visits his family on Mars for the first time in years. His father makes him a highly attractive offer.

    39) As a repaired and upgraded Enterprise departs Earth, sabotage by a religious extremist causes major damage. One of Goldsteins ex wives is called in to repair the damage.

    40) Tower and Goldstein testify before the Federation Council when Starfleet contemplates mothballing the Enterprise and her sister vessels as a cost cutting move.

    41) In exchange for rest of the crew being exonerated, Captain Tower agrees to plead guilty to disobeying orders and is sent to prison.

    42) Tower faces danger in prison when inmates who are former Starfleet officers seek revenge. Meanwhile, greater danger looms when a Borg headhunter unit targets the prison.

    43) Section 31 secretly and temporarily breaks Tower out of prison so he can search for the missing Enterprise

    44) The new Enterprise captain Crawford Gregory plots with a legendary smuggler and pirate to free Tower from prison for good, not knowing that the man is a mortal enemy of Tower

    45) Tower’s rank and position are restored when a Borg headhunter unit kills more than 1,000 of Starfleets top officers.

    46) Years in the future, Captain’s Tower, Goldstein, Gregory, Frasier, and Marsden take a hunting trip deep into Vulcan’s Forge.

Y'know, as bare-boned plot ideas some of those aren't bad at all.

If written and produced well, I'd watch.

Yeah, it would all be in the execution. Although (4) is a little too much of a recycled TOS plot and (5) sounds a little too sitcom-ish for my taste.

Surprised there are only two comments out of more than 60 views. Don't know if that is a good or a bad thing.

Perhaps some character bios would be a good idea. All we have here are names, with no way of telling who's who on the ship, their relationships to one another, etc.

Yeah, a sort of series bible might be good to include, giving character backstories and such.

    (3) was the only one that interested me and felt like Star Trek, although I do concede that a number of the rest have been done similarly on some of the spin offs. Overall, much better than I expected from you.

My idea for a Voyager reboot was shorter.

Ep 1) The Voyager is flung out into the Delta quadrant, where it crashes into a star and explodes.

The concept of Voyager was perfect and harkened back to TOS. The problem was the disgraceful execution.

Yes, but notice how my reboot solves that problem while keeping all the character arcs tied together and avoiding big plot holes.

If every fan who's devoted hundreds if not thousands of hours to creating their own version of Trek would just devote that energy to developing an original s/f series that might have a chance at production...

I'd disagree. But if they are, they should write fanfic instead of being The Fox and the Grapes.

There were a lot of ideas I couldn't explore in Trek. I turned them into two original trilogies.

It's a question of: Do you want to write, or do you only want to write for Trek?

Why 20 years of why have I been spending energy on a show in the back of my mind (and paper and then word documents and now a script writing program)?

Not intended as a dig, but may I suggest that if you've been "working on" something for 20 years and haven't produced anything, that you don't really intend to ever make anything of it.

I say this as someone who does the same thing. I've had several ideas rattling around my head for years, but until I take the time to realize them, they're just fantasies.

Captain (previously Admiral) Carson Tower- mid 40s-actor age-30s human male born on Mars. Commanding officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Two years prior to taking command of the Enterprise he was held prisoner by a remnant of the Dominion in the Gamma Quadrant where he lost one arm and one eye due to severe mistreatment and abuse. At the time of his abduction by the Dominion (and presumed death) he was the commander of the 9th Fleet.

Tower is from a huge and extremely wealthy family on Mars. He is one of the middle children and one of his older brothers is a flag rank officer in Starfleet though he lacks Carson Tower's reputation. Carson Tower tends to get along with his large family pretty well though for various reasons he does not see them often in person.

Physically Tower is large and imposing. Larger and far, far stronger than almost anyone born and raised on Mars. This has prompted rumors for years that his family had a sophisticated endoskeleton implanted in Carson years earlier.

Tower has been married to a member of his former security detachment for about 10 years. His wife is in her early 30s. Their marriage has been very unstable and volatile for years and could collapse at almost any time.

Commander Frederick Goldstein-mid 70s, human male (actor age mid 50s)- First officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise- Goldstein is a rarity in Starfleet. He never attended Starfleet Academy but was eventually thanks to excellent and capable service field promoted into the officer ranks. Over the course of more than 50 years in Starfleet he has served aboard many ships, bases, and at a staggering range of assignments. Well known and well liked across Starfleet he is widely respected for his experience and abilities.

Starfleet has an unspoken bias against promoting non Academy graduates to starship command but Goldstein is on the verge of being awarded with a coveted command as soon as his time on Enterprise is over. Goldstein has worked hard for this opportunity with single minded intensity and will allow nothing to interfere with that goal.

Goldstein is driven and tenacious yet gets along well with Starfleet personnel of all ranks and backgrounds though is known for getting angry with extremely young people who he feels do not respect his experiences. He is a charmer and is considered a real cut up when off duty. The kind of guy people of all ranks love to have around. He doesn't carry disagreements or conflicts off duty.

Goldstein and Tower have never served together though they both know the other by reputation.

Goldstein has been married and divorced a half dozen times (at least). Most all of his marriages floundering due to the long absences and remote deployments he has been assigned to. Goldstein half jokes that his problem is that "I love women. I just love Starfleet a little bit more".

Commander Collins Stafford- early 50s, human male (actor age, early 40s)- Stafford is technically simply the chaplain aboard the Enterprise but as that position doesn't take up too much of his time, he has managed to pick up of a number of useful skills including as the unofficial ships counselor, emergency medical technician, armed and unarmed combat specialist, archivist, shuttle pilot, transporter operator and many other roles too numerous to list. These skills make Stafford a favorite to lead landing parties. Stafford has more than a passing familiarity with bridge and engineering operations He also serves as the unofficial confident and sounding board for Captain Tower.

Given Staffords wide array of knowledge, Captain Tower likes to use him as the unofficial greeter and guide for visitors to the Enterprise.

Stafford served twice previously with Commander Goldstein and consider each other a good friend. Stafford also is close to the younger bridge officers Townsend and Marsden. Stafford for various reasons, perhaps due to his role as chaplain knows a great deal of private information about each member of the crew including the captain. As a matter of principle he won't divulge private information unless it is definitely a life and death matter.

Unmarried with no desire in that direction, Stafford also holds little ambition to command a ship or a base. He is quite content to put in a solid career and then move on to something else one day.

Some interesting stuff there, but so far your leads are all Whitey McAmerican. Female characters? Other nationalities? Aliens?

Tower's missing arm makes me think immediately of Admiral Nelson. Does Tower have some kind of prosthesis?

Commander Elizabeth Townsend- human female-late 30s (actress age-20s)- Townsend is technically the third in command of the Enterprise though this is rarely an issue because Tower and Goldstein virtually never both leave the ship simultaneously. Townsend was Tower's second in command aboard the U.S.S. Fearless, a Nebula II class ship, at the time of his abduction. Unknown to everyone in the crew except for Commander Stafford, it was Townsend and her connections who lobbied Starfleet to attempt the highly dangerous rescue mission to recover Tower. Naturally she is ultra loyal to Tower and would sacrifice herself in a heartbeat to protect him.

Townsend is one of the finest experts in mountaineering in Starfleet and has climbed several of the most famous peaks in and out of the Federation including Everest and K2 on Earth.

Townsend is hopeful to be promoted to second in command of the Enterprise once Goldstein's inevitable promotion comes. To this end she has made becoming expert in all areas of the ship her big priority. She has become close to Commander Goldstein as she learns all she can about the First Officer's position.

Tower's prosthetic arm contains numerous hidden weapons, communications gear, and other surprises. Likewise his artificial "eye" (calling it a eye is a bit inaccurate as it is basically a very sophisticated scanner. Including a targeting scanner and computer for whatever weapons Tower carries or are installed in his arm.

Lt. Commander Alexander Marsden- human male-late 20s (actor- 2os)- Alex "Al" Marsden is the son of one of the most notorious and infamous fugitives from Starfleet. His father was an admiral who after being bested in a war game by a young Commander Carson Tower (commanding his first ship) violently assaulted Tower along with Admirals Shelby, Riker and others during a contentious post action debriefing. While awaiting court martial, Admiral Marsden escaped custody and fled Federation space and has not been seen since.

Alexander Marsden is driven by a desire to prove he is infinitely more loyal and capable than his father ever was. He sees serving capably under his father's archenemy to be the best opportunity to do this. Serving at various bridge stations, Marsden has become close to both Townsend and Goldstein and would like to pursue a relationship with Townsend but Goldsteins tortured marital history gives him reason to pause.

Ironically, despite who Marsden's father is, Captain Tower likes him a great deal and treats him almost like a son.

^The guy skipped on a court-martial stemming from anger management issues and this makes him Starfleet's "one of the most notorious and infamous fugitives?" If you're going to have a notorious father, then make him REALLY notorious. Like, suspected of passing intelligence to the Romulans or froze in a crisis and half his crew died.

It is in context. One flag officer assaulting several other flag officers (including his mentor) is something that stands out. At any rate, where the "notorious part" comes much later in the series when it is revealed what he has been doing for years and what he has been for more than a decade.

I also couldn't make him guilty of treason or the deaths of a bunch of people as I wanted to make the character redeemable (and even noble) later in the series.

Mik'lenn'thy'ynn- Jemhadar-8 years old (actor age not a factor). Known simply as "Mik", Mik was one of the Jemhadar captors of Carson Tower. He was the one who secretly informed Starfleet that Tower was still alive and actively aided in his rescue and was extracted by Starfleet along with him. Since then Mik, following his debriefing has been considered to be in the custody of Carson Tower. Unofficially he serves as an advisor, sounding board, bodyguard, and one might even say best friend to Tower. Mik has a wide range of talents and interests but strives not to reveal them unless absolutely necessary. His motives for his past actions are not clear to anyone (perhaps even himself) and aside from Tower, most in the crew harbors some suspicions of him.

None of the rest of the crew know it was Mik who severed Tower's left arm....
