Plenty of these guys are already 'roided up as it is. Lance Armstrong has admitted that it was all the juicing he did that gave him cancer. And as someone put it, "What could possibly go wrong with giving a bunch of guys at risk of TBI, who are trained to use violence, and often use lots of stimulants, massive doses of testosterone?"

Amy Acton (Democrat running for governor of Ohio) is out here getting her electoral shit rocked because she said that trans girls are just boys, and that she fully supports the sports bans advocated by Republican groups (including the genital inspections). People have been rightly calling her out on it, including the Progressive Caucus, at least until the Ohio Democratic Party started squeezing them to walk back their comments, which they did, which got people even more pissed, and then the organization Reproductive Freedom for All (formerly known as NARAL) decided that was the perfect time to endorse her. Backlash from that has been quick.

    Here's the story.

Ohio Dem Party Has Banned Criticism Of Gov. Candidate Amy Acton Calling Trans Girls “Boys”
The Progressive Caucus says it was forced to take down its post.
    Source: https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/ohio-dem-party-has-banned-criticism

It's like the Ohio Democratic Party wants to lose. It's like they can't help themselves appealing to Republicans even in the face of a Republican party that has essentially tossed all Constitutional rights and laws out the fucking window. These people are playing a game where the opponent isn't seated at the board, they're off fucking kids, and still the Democratic politicians wait politely for their turn, like fucking chumps believing that the rules will allow them to win any moment now.

For anyone interested, here is the current policy map for queer people in the US. It's pretty good for folks who plan on traveling and need to know where it's safe and where it isn't safe if you're LGBTQ+.

Jesus, if you're going by highway from Illinois to Colorado, you're gonna be white-knuckling it through those shitty rectangle states.
    And oh look, Nebraska.
I've seen the pride demonstrations in Nebraska, so there's gotta be an underground railroad.

The safest place to be is in certain cities in those red and yellow states. Rural is dangerous.

Under HB 1069, signed by DeSantis in 2023, any county resident can challenge a book by filling out a single form, and the school is required to remove it from shelves within five days. Putting it back requires a formal hearing. In Clay County, one man exploited that asymmetry to file more than 400 challenges, resulting in 287 books removed in a single school year—titles that included The Handmaid’s Tale, Slaughterhouse-Five, and The Color Purple. The weight of that process was audible in the room. “I’d love to know what the off-ramp is because I’ve been on this crazy highway for 5 years. And if we can find an off-ramp, I’ll be the first to jump on it,” said Dailey.

To be clear, the board members and administrators in the meeting were not opposed to removing books—they are frustrated by the inefficiency of it. Their discussion centered not on whether to ban books but on how to do it faster.

Neckbeard served time in Lebanon for trying to join ISIS in 2025, but the Krauts let him off with a suspended sentence because they didn't consider him a "threat."

Meanwhile if you try to peacefully protest the current genocide they'll send a whole squad of cops to beat the shit out of you. :brood:

I’m sure he avoided all the “queers for Palestine” folk with his vehicle though

This guy btw, born in Germany, travelled to Lebanon to join ISIS, was identified by Germany as an extremist and had him arrested in Lebanon and then flown back to Germany

He was tried and convicted for terrorism offences in May 2026 but back on the streets by July 2026 and told by German authorities to attend “de-radicalization counselling sessions:jayzus:

This is a colossal failure by government and government policy

I doubt it's a coincidence that Germany appears to go incredibly hard on the peaceful demonstrations and ridiculously easy on the dangerous extremists that inevitably harm innocent people.

But it's not like that country has a history of whipping up hatred again religious minorities, so I'm sure it'll be fine. :bergman:

Clay County is between Jacksonville and Gainesville. On one hand they are being encroached by suburban sprawl and on the other hand they are being encroached by academia. The horror!!!

Amy Acton really showing the trans people in Ohio that she cares. So much so that Equality Ohio has downgraded her from an "A" rating to "Pending."

Ohio’s Democratic candidate for governor loses top LGBTQ+ grade over anti-trans remarks
Equality Ohio changed Amy Acton’s rating from an “A” to “pending,” saying her comments scapegoated transgender Ohioans.
    Source: https://www.advocate.com/politics/states/amy-acton-lgbtq-downgrade

This coupled with the recent anger at her saying she'd meet with trans community leaders and then didn't show up, she's shooting herself in the foot. Why these people do this is just, goddammit, Dems, there are people who desperately want to vote for you if you show them you will protect them, if you will care about them. It's such a simple goddamn thing to do and YET.

I can't stand that little gremlin (derogatory). His politics are outdated, his ties to money and power over serving the needs of the people would better fit the Republicans, and he's just a nasty little man who seems to hate anything and everything that might help actual middle class and poor human beings maybe achieve some measure of safety and comfort. Mamdani showed him up for what he is. Quite frankly, Carville's just a Republican who likes the (D)s because he has made his living propping up the worst people on the Democrat side and pretending that there's a mythical undecided voter out there who would vote Democrat if only they would be more like the Republicans.

I'm not saying that a Democratic Socialist is always going to win, or has all the answers, but they're worth supporting, especially now under late stage capitalism. Younger generations are sick and tired of Reagan era policies that enriched their grandparents and left them scrabbling to work two full time jobs just to survive. These kids have nothing to lose where people like Carville depend upon out of touch politicians to keep paying them for their "advice."

She is campaigning on equal rights and anti-duscrimination for LGBTQ. Which is pretty much the opposite of Ramalamadingdong. Yes, people can disagree with her thoughts on trans people in sports, but that's honestly a fairly germane issue compared to, you know, the right to simply exist.
The fact is that many people, including those like me who support trans rights, are not 100% comfortable with what could be seen as doing away with large swathes of Title 9.
And that's okay. That's what discourse is supposed to be about. Not with people like UA, fuck them, but rather with people who don't have a knee-jerk opposition to trans in general.

Downgrade her to a B if you really want, but don't be like those people who refused to vote for Kamala because she wasn't left enough.

I get that, and I understand, but she's been acting in bad faith with the trans community, and so it makes people in the LGBTQ+ community wonder just how committed she is to actually protecting people if she won't even show up for a meeting she agreed to. That's why so many LGBTQ+ agencies are calling her out on it now, while there's still time to get her to understand, rather than just voting for her and hoping she'll do the right thing. We've seen too often politicians who swear they'll protect vulnerable groups only to back off immediately after winning the election.

It's not difficult for her to step up and listen. It's not difficult for her to actually take a stance supporting trans people. The onus is entirely upon her to make good. The longer she takes the more damage she'll cause to her campaign. As I mentioned elsewhere, the younger generations are tired of these political games where we cede power to a politician who then goes on to do exactly nothing and then demands us to cede more power to them to keep doing nothing. We're in the political state we're in because of this lesser evil negotiation.

I say this because it's honestly not about trans kids in sports. It's about erasing trans people from public life, and LGBTQ+ communities know this. We've seen these patterns throughout history. It's not about cis girls playing sports with trans girls, it's about making being trans sexual, obscene, pornographic, and then removing us from the public eye, making it far easier to get rid of us further, and then move on to other groups. This is where people need to be critically aware of history and how fascism crept into those societies and gained a foothold.

It's not about trans kids in sports, it was never about trans kids in sports. It's about making you vote against my existence under the guise of protecting the children. It's a very old tactic, and I ask that you not let it work.

I get what you're saying. Of course, I'm not voting in Ohio, but if I were, I'd still pick Acton over Ramasmarmy in a heartbeat.
Because the opposite is a LOT more dire. At least under Acton the movement keeps going.

I understand that, and I'll likely vote for her as I do live in Ohio, but I'm just so tired of these people abandoning the most vulnerable when they need protection the most.
When I talk about this, I'm not demanding you vote for someone else or not vote at all, I just wish more of the rank and file would put more pressure on these politicians. We all deserve so much better than this.

I'm essentially writing out my ballot saying "here's my vote, Amy, please don't let them take my rights and get rid of me."

Carville peaked in 1992. My theory about him is that he's stuck on the thing that made him famous — the strategy that worked for Clinton, and indeed probably was necessary for Clinton — and cannot conceive of the strategy that made him famous no longer working. "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."

His post-1992 national track record is an interesting read:

    — Advised John Kerry in 2004 (lost the general).

    — Advised Hillary Clinton in 2008 (lost the primary) and, somewhat hilariously, said that Barack Obama was the Democratic candidate "most likely to explode or implode." (Narrator: "He didn't.")

    — Supported Michael Bennet in 2020 (dropped out after getting 952 votes in the New Hampshire Democratic primary, just ahead of "Assorted write-ins" and just behind write-ins for ... wait for it ... Donald Trump).

She's not being roasted for her position on trans participation, but for her terminology "boys in girls sports" which she has refused to back off from. It reinforces the right's bigoted narrative and basically tells the public "I think the Republicans have it right.

There are a lot of ways she could have said it or, at least, reworded herself once challenged - and she refuses. Won't even talk to the people who have concerns about it. Won't even have STAFF talk to them.

THAT is why she is where she is - the groups no longer trust her to defend any of their rights under these circumstances. Of course she's vastly better than Vivck but we don't need a party that isn't allowed to challenge a candidate for their failings. No one has any hesitation about bashing Fetterman. Nor should they.
