Any healthcare practitioner with an ounce of a conscience should already be planning to move out of the shithole states that have implemented far-reaching abortion bans and attached criminal penalties.

The problem is that there are states creating laws that punish anyone who attempts to leave their own state to seek abortion care in another state. You know, because free choice, and states rights.

No. I'm sick of changing names and words in a vane (vein?) effort to educate idiots. The words are what the words are. Idiots should just be told to sit the fuck down and shut up and not allowed to cast votes.

Well, we'll see how consistent SCOTUS is (but I'm not holding my breath).

Inter-state travel, etc. is the purview of the federal government so I have to think a lot of those laws will be challenged.

Well, the different members of the conservative majority probably practice different kinds of misogyny.

Thomas and Coney Barrett are probably in the "punish all the whores in as draconian a way as possible" group. So they would go along with it.

    Roberts would not.

And I suspect Kavanaugh is more of the "no abortions for poor women, but if my daughter or my son's girlfriend ever needs one, I want them to be able to travel to a state that allows it" mindset.

His chance to change the filibuster rules was over 18 months ago. The Dems don't have a lot of time before the mid-terms.

I actually put a lot of blame on Biden and the Democrats for not taking bolder action at the beginning of his term to clean up the messes that the Trumplicans created. Now I fear there's no going back.

This. They should have put this plan into motion the moment the leak happened. Instead, they waited, and then when it happened, they started fundraising. The very hour after Roe v. Wade was struck down, I received a dozen emails from Peloi, the DCCC, and other Democrat politicians asking for me to chip in $15. Meanwhile, Nancy was backing Henry Cueller (anti-abortion, pro-NRA) in Texas, and Joe Biden's making deals with Mitch McConnell to allow an anti-abortion judge, who is also a member of the Federalist Society, to have a lifetime appointment as a federal judge when a vacancy opens.

With so-called allies like these, who needs enemies?

They’ve had fifty fucking years to codify Roe, they didn’t do it. But leave it up to Democrats to change the rules when they don’t get their way. It will come back to bite them in the ass, I guarantee it.

Yeah, anti-abortion Joe Biden is going to do something.

Do we know what he is planning to do?

Oh, appoint a lifetime judge who is anti-abortion in a deal with Mitch McConnel.

The Biden Bros are just complete republican trash.

He is not going to do shit. Joe was always against abortion. He is happy with what has happened. He is lying like Trump about doing something about the filibuster. The Biden Bros lap it up because they are more gullible than Qanon. Biden is celebrating the end of Roe because he finally got what he wanted as a religious nut and senator. He fought for the end of Roe.

When he loses in a couple of years and Trump or desantis becomes president I am going to be happy when they hang him. We are all going to suffer, but at least we will get to see the reps stab him in the back because he thinks they are his friends. With friends like Moscow Mitch, who needs Trump in power.

Biden has made things so much worse than Trump could.

Oh, I know. It's just that there are so many more people than Joe "Mitch McConnell is an honorable man" Biden who could have started the ball rolling, who should have done things years ago honestly, but when the best time to do something was years ago, the second best time is right now, and they've had those moments over and over again. It should make people angry that the Democrats want to play by their own rules, constrained by rules that the Democrats themselves created rather than step outside of those rules and actually govern to where marginalized people actually benefit in a material way. It's why I call Joe Biden a Paul von Hindenburg Democrat as much as I do, because he will abide by his own rules of fair play, and the next fascist to walk through our door he'll hold it open for them because he'll say they won it fair and square, that it was legitimate, and there will be no one to stop him, especially not Kamala "I am the daughter of a woman, and granddaughter of a woman" Harris.

Since Biden has been president we:

    1. continue to have COVID and strains are going past the vaccines
    2. Over double the gas prices because of price gouging Biden allows his oil buddies to do.
    3. massive inflation and huge supply chain troubles.
    4. The end of Roe
    5. a push to end gay rights and women's rights to medicine like BC
    6. Integration of church into the state at levels not seen for decades.
    7. The elimination of voting rights, and the consolidation of power into the hands of a few red traitors
    8. The allowance of an attempted coup with no prosecution of the people who organized it.
    9. The rise of the threat of nuclear war by Russia to levels never seen before from the same people who attempted to steal the US elections.

Why did we vote for this guy? It is arguable that Trump being president might actually have been better and safer than Biden. This is the better future for the US? We could have had all of this shit or less under Trump.

Biden is worse than Trump. It has taken two years for him to help destroy voting rights, put women's bodies under the control of white men, make his religion the governing force of the land, destroy our economy, create shortages, put people in the poorhouse, give his wealthy friends corporate welfare and tax breaks, gige the country to his good friend moscow mitch, and make things worse for everyone.

Fuck you Biden Bros. Fuck every single one of you. BTW you will be fucked because you voted for Biden. You asked for the anal raping by old man Joe, and thank you all for your help.

Every Biden Bro complaining in this thread should STFU now because you were told by Biden and everyone else this is what he wanted.

By the way, Biden said today that gas prices are going to be high for as long as it takes.

Regarding the abortion issue, though, he's now saying that he would make an exception for the filibuster in order to codify Roe v. Wade into law because, you know, after the fact that it has been struck down, after the entirety of the Democratic party has said they can't do anything, and after being given a month's advance notice only to do nothing is exactly the best time to do it.

I honestly don't know who has any faith in the Democrats anymore, or why they would outside of simply ignoring everything they have done to fuck this whole thing up.

I would wager that the plans to codify Roe v. Wade will come with the requirement that more Democrats be voted into office in the midterms, which just makes it clear as an election tactic, because for decades they've had ample opportunity, and have chosen not to do so, and now people are expected to believe this time it will be different? I will believe it when I see it. Most likely, if they do gain more seats, codifying Roe v. Wade will go onto the backburner, just as it did for Obama in 2009. There will always be a reason why it won't work, even as the GOP manages to get just about everything they want whether in power or out of power, and it's because if they don't do it directly, they'll get the Democrats to get out of the way so they can, or help them in the process.

With the Democrats, you couldn't ask for better accomplices if you're a fascist.

The reality becomes what good does codifying it do when SCOTUS will just declare it unconstitutional? That does appear to be the main idea behind the ruling. The only thing you might be able to do is to make a constitutional amendment which is so far out of the range of possibilities. The first thing you would have to do is to make more SCOTUS seats and then make the liberals the dominant ones. You would need at least 4 new seats, and then to have 4 appointees before the mid terms because Mitch will never let any nomination pass after november. Then you would have to have the right case make it all the way to the supreme court?

Biden knows it is done, and every news agency who is pretending he will do something is as honest as OAN regarding the election.

The only way now is breaking the law because it will be at least 10 years before any path through legal channels will be accomplished. Protest all you want, but that only allows the right wing to mock you.

As for the next elections the dems have sunk their ship. I am watching the rise of WTF should anyone ever vote for the dems again. Every time this happens the dems lose more people because they are not an alternative to the republicans. The only chance is third party at this point. We have to take the hit sometime, and since the dems will never do anything aside from republican then why wait?

If I were charitable (and without seeing the video myself), I would say that perhaps she is referring to the Flyover Country mentality that a lot of West Coast liberals have--myself included in my younger, pre-Libritarian days--that everyone there is a backassward hick. And I'll grant that there's fewer enlightened people in such places than, say, NYC or San Francisco, but the thing is marginalized people live in these areas too and the DNC doesn't even try to connect with them. Or if they do, it's Nancy Pelosi endorsing a pro-life candidate with no embarrassment as Roe v Wade is being destroyed:

    https://www.vanityfair.com/news/202...pporting-the-only-antiabortion-house-democrat

At least, I'm hoping that's what it is, because it seems odd that anyone on the right would be begging the left to save them, even amongst the ones who openly support abortion.

Firstly, I heartily endorse breaking the law.

Secondly, that's why I've been sending information to people about how to acquire abortion medication. I did that on my own forum, posted a few links to people on Facebook, and the next morning, my forum was deleted. Gone. So they're already on top of this shit, and too many agencies are more than happy to enforce it. This is why it was so important to codify Roe v. Wade before this decision was handed down, because now the fall of Roe v. Wade sets legal precedent that is difficult to overcome, especially for anyone who follows the rules they set for themselves as if the US lives in a live version of The West Wing.

The last time the Democrats had the best chance at codifying Roe v. Wade was in 2009, when Obama had a strong majority in the House and the Senate. Instead, he said it wasn't a priority, and now here we are. I don't blame it solely on Obama, he's just one more in a long line of Democrats who could have done more to help protect Roe from being struck down, to make it more difficult, to give it more support, more legal standing, more protection by putting it up against already enforced laws and stacking them so that to remove one causes the rest to come up for constitutionality. Turns a game of bowling into a game of Jenga, to put it another way.

The problem, of course, is that it's harder to fundraise when you have no wedge issues to show why the GOP are different from the Democrats.

When the Supreme Court resumes in October, they will be taking on Affirmative Action, and gay rights.

So there's more fun on the horizon. I wonder what the Democrats will be doing between now and then?

If I still lived in CA, I'd be high tempted to stick with local politics this election and to hell on anything outside of my county.Unfortunately I'm keenly aware that my county in Nevada had a debate on "voting protections" a few weeks before I move here and we have a LOT of open Proud Boys who recently took to harrassing families as a library even with a drag queen reading to kids this past weekend and we've got way too many assholes running who support that shit. There are more wild horses than black folks in this entire county, so I can't afford to sit this one out.

That said, yeah I don't trust anything coming from the DNC either and I don't blame anyone for being weary. So no one, especially certain Bernie supporters who shall remain nameless, are in any danger of getting lectures to vote blue no matter who this year. all I'm gonna say is know your area and make a calculated best vote accordingly.

Conditioning is a hell of a drug. I can talk to conservatives about leftist ideas, and even get them to agree to a lot of them, as long as I don't give them any inroads into figuring out where those ideas are coming from, because the moment they make the connection, suddenly it's all bad, it's all wrong, even if they were agreeing with every fiber of their being not five minutes prior. It's a bitch trying to get people to understand they're being exploited by the very people telling them to watch out for "groomers."

Especially when the DNC is pushing Green party candidates off the ballot as is going on in NC where a candidate submitted the proper signatures on time, and in greater number than necessary, and the Democrats on the election committee rejected them, claiming fraud because, you know, why would anyone choose a third party, amiright?

    https://www.newsobserver.com/news/state/north-carolina/article263074443.html

All of this is a recipe for disaster for the Democrats. I have met no other party who is so hell-bent on slitting their own throats, and mocking the people warning them about the sharpness of the blade in their hands.

Just a small point some people do not seem to get. When you are promoting illegal substances use code. Second, set up socks to be deleted.

People are going to have to learn the tricks of illegal narcotics dealing because this will be illegal. The law and moderators love easy victims. Do not fight this with real accounts from US companies. Avoid accounts from countries with the five eyes once the options are criminalized because they will be cracking down on easy victims they can parade about to scare people. If you are going to do it through facebook at least go to PM.

Keep aware of slang as it will change to avoid enforcement. As for women, get some friends in the drug business because that is where this shit is going.

Trump didn't help but this was always the ultimate goal of the GQP. If it hadn't been him who flew open the floodgates, it would have been someone else since as Amaris correctly pointed out, the Dems had no political interest in codifying Roe into law either.
