I think we should have separate threads for all of the different SW movies, so I'm starting one for Rogue One. Anyway, new trailer in ten days. http://makingstarwars.net/2016/07/rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-trailer-to-air-on-abc-july-15th/
@Goldstein the Space Jew why is it dumb to start a thread about an upcoming movie and post information about it?
We already have a SW anthology thread. Do we need separate threads for, for instance, each Terminator movie? The only reason we have countless Trek threads is because of Dayton.
We are going to have a bunch of Star Wars movies, I feel like there should be separate threads for each rather than one all encompassing thread.
I suppose we should merge all Superman threads, all Bond threads, etc.? No, Rouge One is about to become a hot topic, Federal Farmer is right to suggest a separate thread.
Daaaamnn! Didja catch the slam on Lucas in that? "You'll actually compose shots, that if we were on a greenscreen set you just wouldn't have known were available."
Rogue One had reshoots. The reshoots are over. http://makingstarwars.net/2016/08/r...-one-a-star-wars-story-reshoots-are-complete/
Bail Organa will be making an appearance. http://www.cinemablend.com/news/154...bringing-back-an-unexpected-prequel-character
That's cool. One thing that irked me about Force Awakens was the deliberate attempt to pretend the prequels don't exist, even to the extent of not even having any prequel logos or background aliens. The prequels do exist, and they are part of the canon. There are even fans out there they specifically prefer them to the originals. I've always felt that the move to create distance between them and Force Awakens had the effect of making them feel even more out of place. I think it's right and proper that there is connective tissue linking them with the original movies so I'm really pleased that Smits will feature and that Rogue One is making an effort to feel like a bridge between the two.
Actually they don't. They appear in the trailer but were edited out in the final movie at the request of Abrams.
Really ? I don't have the movie handy to check, but I thought I saw all the flags there when they went into Maz Kanata's place.
I don't think they were edited out. If so, then something very similar looking was edited in. Chup, is there some proof of this claim? [edit] That article doesn't quite say that the flags were removed, just that the number of references were reduced. That doesn't invalidate what Packard wrote.
I'm not such a nerd as to recognize different flags, so I'll leave that to others. The point is that your article only says that Anakin's flag was removed, that doesn't mean there Arno flags referencing the PT. Wouldn't the Mandalorian flag be such a reference?
No. The Mandalorian flag is from Empire Strikes Back. All of the prequel and Clone Wars linked flags were removed.
The Skywalker family lightsaber also technically originated in the prequels as well. And don't forget Chewbacca, from episode III.
This is the old image before the trailer. This is what JJ asked to be removed for the theatrical release.
And a lot of people don't like the prequels and found it pretty soothing that the new movie basically ignored them.
