Well, duh. If more mentally ill people get treatment, that means fewer of them end up in prison, and the politicians get less in kickbacks from the private prisons. The best way to handle things is to cut funding to mental health services and find a way to send them to prison for as long as possible before they snap and go on a killing spree.

Gurrrrl, can we talk? Back in '08, right when there was one of the big political conventions going on, we had some tornados hit this area. It wasn't good, in terms of damage, but not the worst we'd seen in recent years, or even that year. Despite all of that, and despite the fact that the storms had left the area before the evening's events at the convention had gotten underway, do you know what the local stations did? They dumped all their coverage of the convention, in favor of talking about the storm. And most of it wasn't even remote shots where you had the hope of seeing them wheel out bodies under sheets, just the reporters in the newsroom talking about how their station covered the storms, with replays of the radar images, and nothing like a large banner across them to let you know you were seeing things that had happened hours ago. Because, somehow, an event that had no recorded fatalities was more important than one of the two major political parties laying out their goals for the next four years.
