No, it didn’t. I was there. And I’m here now. What “worked” is that the wealthy convinced members of the government to implement of means of wealth redistribution - from the bottom up.

So...the way it's being done right now where central banks around the world are gradually increasing interest rates to counter inflation?

Post all the links you like. It’s all part of a capitalist system which depends on a large population of poor people. I’m telling you, flat out, it doesn’t work. You are moronic enough to fall for the propaganda. That certainly doesn’t make you intelligent enough to speak on the subject.

You’re claiming that raising the interest rates doesn’t help lower inflation, it does, you’re wrong and now you’re refusing to accept the proof and the facts. I see we have another leftist science denier. Facts don’t care about your feelings.

But if the interest paid on savings accounts doesn't exceed that of inflation, what purpose is there in saving money?

I know right, if I have an emergency, I just try and make the tax payers pay for my lack of responsibility.

Okay, I'll bite: How? And before you leap in to say that I'm somehow trying to have a "gotcha" moment, let me stop you with some actual US history. Assume, for the sake of argument, that we both agree that porn has a negative effect on society (neither of us do, but just go with me for the moment). In that case, we both should agree that things banning porn would be a good thing (again, not saying that either of us do). Fine and dandy. But suppose those laws banning porn also prevent medical textbooks from being distributed. Again, regardless of where we might fall on what is considered to be porn, we both can agree that medical textbooks should never be considered porn. Right? Well, thanks to the various Comstock Laws that were passed in the US from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, medical textbooks would have been considered to be porn, and thus illegal to distribute.

Seriously, that's a thing that fucking happened in the US. How does the meme that I posted reinforce the idea that this is okay? None of the Founding Fathers were around when photography became a thing. I won't claim to know what they might have thought about porn pics, but even if they objected to them, I can't see the issue if everyone in the pics are over the age of 18.

Depends upon the emergency. Things like the FDIC and FSLIC are designed to protect people who trust their money to banks and other regulated institutions. Then there's also situations where large corporations, be they banks or car makers, get bailed out by the Federal government.

What about bailouts of large corporations like GM? Not a trick question. Because if you want to get down to it, I can provide solid arguments as to why the execs at GM. Chrysler, and Ford, were a bunch of mindless jerks who should be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes, but if it hadn't been for the economic crash back in '08. we'd have never gotten that chance, and that while bailing those companies out wasn't ideal (and yes, I know better than most folks here why Ford didn't take government money, and it has nothing to do with them being better at business than other folks), I can make the case that bailing out GM and Chrysler were the best offers on the table, even if they weren't the ideal.

I know the arguments for bailing out corporations, that money should have been spent on the families that were suffering, not the CEOs. I think something like Covid relief would have been a better idea and I even said as much back then.

It all depends upon the corporations, however. Bailing out someone like GM makes more sense than it does Wells Fargo, even if both of them are shite companies. And COVID wasn't a thing back in '08.

No covid wasn't a thing in o8, what I meant is we should have given stimulus checks in the same way that we gave covid relief checks.

Sure, stimulus checks for individuals makes sense, but so does propping up certain corporations. As a car guy, I can assure you that a large majority of us were screaming that the big automakers were fucking up. Car and Driver magazine did an interview with the then head of GM, a guy by the name of Rick Waggoner, who didn't have the slightest fucking clue about cars. The article called him out on that but because of the way things work in America, it wasn't until GM went tits up in '08 that he got the boot. And even then, there were people who were saying the government had no business telling GM who should be in charge of the company. This is despite the fact that the government was pouring billions of dollars into GM.

The simple fact is that if the government had let GM fail, shitloads of people would have been out of work, and handing out stimulus checks to citizens wouldn't have solved the problems at GM, so long as Waggoner was allowed to remain in charge. And without the government stepping in, or the UAW being allowed to have greater control over GM, there wasn't any way for Waggoner to get the boot. My preference would have been for the government to boot Waggoner, hand much of the control of GM to the UAW, and give out stimulus checks to everyone. We didn't get the ideal, but we got better than most of the so-called "experts" were calling for at the time.

I didn’t say raising interest rates doesn’t lower inflation. I said inflation is an imaginary thing the wealthy use to fuck over the poor and working classes. Facts don’t care about your feelings either.

Yes. And if you could open your own eyes and mind, stop listening to those who want you to think a certain way, you’d see it too.

Gun nuttery is what happens when a LARP gets way out of control.
Just look at the costumes the Jan 6th idiots had on.
Just look at how the Klan has wizards, dragons, and cyclopses.
They really think they're in this alternate world that's a mix of Lord Of The Rings, and The Bible, and a zombie movie.
And the LARP is their identity, so even if you could pop their bubble, they'd kill themselves, and they'd rather kill you.
How do you get through to people that far gone?

If America were swapped with Japan, we'd have NRA guys going around Wal-Mart with big-ass swords that are too unbalanced to be of practical use, like anime/game characters, or the last three panels of this strip - same question at the end though:

Commander comes off like UA in the first six panels but he IS meant to be finding useful outlets for hyper-macho guys like UA so there's that.

Plus his bosses infected him with a virus once that turned him Bishounen because it marketed better and his kids were scared of him so he had some issues.

    He got over them:
