The same people who declare loudly that gender is unchangeable and cannot be separate from biological sex ... also think that if a guy eats tofu, he will turn into a girl.
You know, I was going to make a snarky response to this, but, instead, I'll make a serious one. Put yourself into the shoes of another person. For whatever reason, you find yourself facing something horrific, like say being homeless with little chance of ever being able to have your own place again. What would you do? Would you say, "I'll obey the law," or would you look for anything legal or not to try and help yourself out of that situation? Not saying that you'd commit a crime, mind you, just asking if you'd consider the idea of committing some kind of crime to help you out of the situation. If you wouldn't, why is that? And I'm not talking about a crime like armed robbery, but any crime that might give you some money or put food in your belly when it seemed like you didn't have any other options.
Sure, I might sell drugs or something, but you know what you're doing is illegal and you're going to eventually get caught so the responsibility or lack there of is on you.
Fun fact is that when people have more to lose they are less likely to commit crimes. Imprisonment is the stick, the carrot is the quality of life someone can have out of prison. Both are needed for an effective justice system.
