I think what Chris is saying is that nobody should be suprised. I wasn't. If it wasn't Zodiac, it would have been somebody else.

I just figured I'd enjoy the fun while it lasted.

I can agree, but again, that doesn't make Zodiac weather, he's an individual responsible for what he does.

Nick is merely asking if he shouldn't be punished for those acts.

And I'm asking if not, by what criteria and precedent?

    Agreed again.

Did his acts...at least so far...break any rules?

No, but that's not the end of it, because neither did Face for his last ban, nor Borgs, nor Hood for his never-will-return status.

So, what's the divining line for that?

I dunno. Didn't Borgs try to get people in RL trouble and bring down the board?

    Mmmm, hmm.

Well, we can keep going in circles, but it indeed does come down to Tamar & Elwood.
But that doesn't mean I can't put my two cents in on on what that decision should be.

The Champagne Room was an experiment. It didn't work out. That's all.

The Iron Room was an experiment. So far that's working out just fine. That we're willing to experiment is a good thing, okay? We learn by doing.

Elwood and Tamar get to decide who gets banned and who doesn't. Personally, I trust Elwood's judgement. Tamar has a temper and is probably a little quicker on the trigger, but I'd still back her judgement, too. Rules lawyering and "what if?" and all those games are all fine and good, but the bottom line is that Wordforge is a social community of sorts and all of our rules come down to plain old human judgement. You can like it or not, you can give advice and opinions, but it's still Elwood's call at the end.

And Zodiac is not worth all this consternation. He's a wart on the ass of the internet. Get past it.

Holy Jeebus, why does everything have to be such a drama?

Giving advice and opinions is all I was doing.

I mean, if we don't wanna discuss this stuff, then let's throw out the shelter and have naked dictatorship instead of benevolent dictatorship with semi-democratic input.

We discuss things to death around here. Hence the :shitstorm: smiley, no? But I don't like giving this much attention to a fuckhead like Zodiac, okay?

He must be a pretty damn big wart then, seeing as how much he's accomplished.

Borgs made an active and aggressive action to take down the board...One that could have had RL legal ramifications for Elwood. This guaranteed that, barring some act of providence or the creator, he is NOT welcome back here.

Getting the champagne room shut down.

You may argue it was doomed to failure, but it was brought about by him.

As Elwood said before...he had some ethical and legal concerns about the room as well, his and everyone who fed his shenanigans was just the final straw.

Zodiac is nothing but a troll. Banning him just makes us look bad and does nothing but make him happy...he didn't actually do anything. It is kind of the same thing as when I told Trinity I knew where it worked when I didn't and it wanted my head. It was just a troll, it was in the Red Room.

His Negro hanging thread? No worse than anything Tasvir chanted over the years and I have seen that picture in there before without anyone being banned.

If you want to talk changing the rules in the Red Room, we can have that discussion but right now...Zodiac hasn't done anything ban-worthy. Or even warning worthy.

As for Borgs, Polarslam and Hood. The owner doesn't want them back. End of freaking story. The man who pays the bills can superceed all the rules when he wants to.

I see no reason to ban Zodiac, at least not now. If we banned people for being a jerk, WF would be an awfully lonely place.

I concur with Bulldog, Cass, and Tamar.

I've been loosely following the goings on. I'm feeling much better now and I've had a nice restful with the girlfriend. I've been ignoring Zodiac up until this point and I plan on continuing with that. If he has a question in The Help Desk, I'll answer it, but that's going to be the extent of my involvement with him.

And, I'll go on the record here. Zodiac did not get the CR closed. I told Tamar to kill it. I did have some very serious concerns, many of them are the same concerns I have with The White Room, but we're keeping that under the radar.

It was just a whinefest that I didn't feel like dealing with and when you factor in the other issues, it made sense for the room to go. It was a failed experiment. We'll have many more failures before we're done here.

If this thread is ever released, it's going to be one hell of a validation for Zodiac. Face and Tasvir's threads are just talking about the usual suspects, but this nobody gets a whole 2-pager devoted to him? This whole thread is us taking the bait, hook, line, and sinker. He won't shut up for weeks.

I don't think this thread should be DNRed, I think it should be deleted. It's pointless and never should have happened.

I dunno, more than a few of us posted that we, more or less, don't care about Zodiac.

And what do you think about somebody who would be proud there was a thread about them in the Shelter? Doesn't exactly scream winner to me.

Fine with me. Of course I feel the same way about just not releasing the thread.

Personally, I don't see any reason to give this thread or Zodiac any special treatment. I just can't bring myself to care about either.

We don't delete threads. Or not unless it is an emergency of some kind..I.E. Kiddie porn.

Who gives a rat's ass if he's thrilled? So what?

The fact some of you care so much about what he says and does just shows how much he succeeded with some of you.

You'll forgive me for wanting to see actual discussion rather than "Zodiac PWNS JOO" and "Nuh-ah no he doesn't" as the top topics in The Red Room. It's spam, and we're encouraging him.

Let people talk about what they want. It will die soon enough...a lot sooner than if we delete it, I assure you.

No one is making you click on it and if just knowing it is there bothers you that much, you are taking it way too seriously. Just avoid it.
