If he does, fine. If he doesn't, fine. He's under no obligation to do so.

But it does make him look like a hypocrite, considering the transparency bills he has supported in the past.

Why isn't he being transparent now?

There have been many plausible reasons as to why Obama hasn't made his donor list public that have been offered in this thread. Pick one and sit on it.

OK, I choose "His campaign managers have gone over the donor list with a fine-toothed comb and informed him that it cannot be sanitized enough for public distribution, and will further reinforce the appearance of impropriety in a way that may or may not be innocent, but cannot be explained away in a succinct enough manner to be accepted by the unwashed sound-byte masses."

So than you are saying he does have something to hide. Good to know you are in support of the status quo from a man who seems to believe you are stupid enough to buy his bs about hope and change.

Oh wait, that's right. You are probably naive, idealistic or flat out stupid enough to believe his steaming pile of crap.

In another week, the McCain supporters are going to skip posting diatribes on the internet and go straight into eating each other.

You seem to forget that Margaret is in her own little world. A world in which she actually believes the crap that Obama spews. :fantasyworld:

So to recap the Obama position:
Transparency is good when it is telling union bosses how their members vote on things.

Transparency is bad when it could expose cheating in the Presidential election.

    Gotcha. :techman:

Hoping? Considering we already know about Obama's prior associations, there really isn't hope. It is more a matter of how long before it gets out just how down and dirty Obama truly is with corrupt donors. It is already well known that he associates with unrepentant terrorists, people like Rezco and etc.

So the FEC...whose job it is to look for illegal donations, will in fact be getting a copy of the list to do just that? Do you have any evidence that they are not already in fact receiving copies of the list as it grows?

If the people who legally need to see it will see it, then where is the problem?

From an outsiders perspective it seems most likely that at this point the Obama campaign is a little busy and spending significant numbers of man hours pulling a massive list together into a publically releasable state isn't the top of their list of priorities.

There is also the fact that many people would have put their names on the list on the understanding that their small donations would stay private. I'm all in favour of rules that make all donations public information, but they can't really be retroactive.

Politicians have no right to privacy, as far as I'm concerned. Since, by winning, you earn the power to fuck with my life, you sign away that right the moment you put your name on a ballot. So, out with the data, cochise.
