Nick Meyer says his Khan interquel miniseries between "Space Seed" and "Wrath Of Khan" is just sitting on a shelf, and no one's told him why. https://trekmovie.com/2022/04/20/ni...eries-about-khan-is-still-just-sitting-there/ Hey, maybe him raising a stink on social media might get it made, like Snyder Cut, and Deadpool. In which case, we'll have a thread for it.
'Cause it would likely suck? Someone needs to tell these Hollywood folks that a little bit of mystery is a good thing. We don't need to know every detail about a character's backstory. Look what happened with Darth Vader. Or Boba Fett.
Vader's backstory was more in the animated series than the prequals. Boba Fett's backstory as well. Book of Boba Fett just explains how he came to be a crime boss on Tatooine before Mando season 3 starts.
Clone Wars and Rebels are both animated. As far as I know, there isn't any backstory for Vader or Boba in Rogue One. But, i agree, it is a good "interquel" as is Bad Batch.
Khan is marooned in Space Seed and back in TWoK in exactly the same places character-wise: arrogant genetically enhanced prick with a small army of folk slavishly devoted to him who wants to defeat the Enterprise crew. The only difference being he had a Stepford wife in the former (by the end) and lost her by the latter. Literally fuck all else changed. That's not good material for an interquel. It's also why Vader doesn't get much time in Rogue One or Rebels except as someone for the other characters to flee - he was pretty much at where he was in ANH by the end of ROTS.
Really? Given that he's known primarily for TWoK and that he's talking about filling in the history of some TOS characters, I think that it's safe to say he's talking about Khan. I really don't think that he's talking about a series giving the backstory of Chang, for example.
Don't you want to see Khan farming while McGivers teaches everyone about the 23rd century as they try and find a way off the planet then ultimately fail? I really need to know what he was doing right up until the moment Chekhov shows up.
I want to see the Ceti Eel grow to full maturity, and explode her head, and spray brains all over Khan in bed, and give him his worst PTSD.
Yeah, Solo was a prime example of that. I didn’t need to know how Han got the dice I never noticed before it was pointed out in The Last Jedi.
While humorous, I disagree completely. I loved the original Star Wars trilogy. I liked the prequels. But, there was so much about the Star Wars universe that I didn’t know and make excellent stories. The thing with the Star Wars universe is that you can start anywhere on the timeline and write a story because everyone’s story has already been written. It all happened a long time ago. So, you can write a story about 20 year old Luke or you can write a story about another 20 year old who lived 1000 years before or after Luke. Hell “you fought in the Clone Wars?!” was just a throwaway line and look how much story we got out of that. As long as the story is good, who cares if it’s a minor detail in a different story.
Not sure if you’re serious or just being facetious, but in case you are serious, why keep watching Star Trek? Why did you watch the movie TWOK? That was also a minor and completely forgettable episode from the original series.
Arguably a far less annoying version of Anakin, too. Not so much with the speechifying about sand, or "I hate you!! "
Not really true. We already got Anakin's backstory in the prequels... starting from him as a child to how he became Darth Vader. Everything else in the animated series is technically just filler ("delving into the life of Anakin") and doesn't change the ending of Revenge of Sith. That being said, both Clone Wars and Rebels were infinitely better than the shitty prequel trilogy.
So ... if a person never watched Clone Wars or Rebels, they would be left with the giant plot holes in Anakin's story. and without their story, the prequals leading Anakin to Vader do not make sense. One has to watch Clone Wars and Rebels to really understand the minimal extent of why and how Anakin became Vader.
Er, no. Even though the prequels were a hot mess, the path from Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader was made pretty clear. His backstory was only hinted at in the original trilogy, and the prequel trilogy -- for good or bad (mostly bad IMO) -- pretty much explained it. It is not necessary to watch the animated series to understand it, although it doesn't hurt. P.S. - prequel, for fuck's sakes.
So, your argument is "I just want to argue". Which ... is fine, if that's your angle. Just good to know up front.
