I was considering this... best I could come up with were these guys:

But yeah, Agnes of Borg probably allows for the individual to be retained when they're not on duty or whatever.

What do all those drones do all day anyhow? I'd assume Borg ships are pretty efficient so it's not like you need 10000 drones working 24/7

Thompson-Queen had no trouble blowing up whole cubes like asteroids in a game, so a lot of drones are redundant.

Well, she calls him the oldest security guard ever and he quips that he’s the wisest. A joke to break the ice, no doubt and completely appropriate, IMHO, but not that TNG JLP would’ve done that. He then tries to get her to ignore her fears and complete the mission.

I think back to TNG JLP’s interactions with Starfleet cadets in S1 and the S5 episode The First Duty and it completely different. Of course, he’s not the Captain of the Enterprise when he’s talking to Renee, but I actually think Old JLPis better suited in this instance.

I don't think the analogous situation would be how he was to the cadets in The First Duty -- those people knew him and he was an authority figure to them in the midst of trying to suss out what happened in a fatal accident. Of course in a moment like that, Picard is unlikely to be cracking jokes.

I think how he was with Guinan in Time's Arrow is more analogous. In any case, I think it would be within character for TNG Picard to respond to a joke with a joke.

I kept wondering that and all I could think about was this:
    6h1fd2.jpg

I mean, given all this history about what happened with Yvette, it would give more perspective about why Robert was so angry about Johnny Boy leaving earth for Starfleet.

Seems like a very glaring omission, right up there with erasing the fact that he and Beverly had a thing they never acted on to pretend he never knew love until Laris :garamet:

Well, when season 1 started, I kind of felt like they nailed JLP. That interview for 24th century TV and he berates the interviewer for questioning him… that was Jean Luc, IMHO. “You’re no student of history…” The injured ego, the assumption that Starfleet would bow to him when he went back. All that rang true to me. I’m not sure where it went off the rails.

I don't think it's so much an omission as part of the pattern.

JLP had feelings for Beverly and vice-versa. In TNG the subtext/text was that JLP didn't act because of guilt over Jack Crusher being his best friend and having some level of responsibility for his death.

In reality, JLP had trouble letting anyone get close in general and in particular in a romantic sense. During the seven years plus four movies, Picard had few actual romantic flings where reading between the lines he actually might have done the deed. Vash, Lt. Darren, the woman from Insurrection and I think that's it. He had the long marriage in his head in the Inner Light, but for that to happen, he literally had to forget pretty much everything about who he was and live another person's life.

So it may be somewhat of a retcon, but this season seems to be saying part of why it didn't work between Picard and Beverly is that Picard had trouble letting people get close to him, and in part that was because he's got maman issues.

That's what I mean. He had his reservations, but it seemed odd at it wasn't mentioned in that first scene with Guinan. That ship at the time was the second largest ship in all of Trek next to Kirk/Spock through the early 2000s so it seems a bit strange to not specifically name that one in conversation

With the TNG crew coming for S3, maybe there will be a Beverly/Laris catfight over him.

Yes. Absolutely there will be a catfight.

    <conference room>

TNG and Picard crew (surviving) present.

    ...

Raffi: "Oh here he goes again! Can't go saving the galaxy without consulting your damned ego, huh JL?"

    Worf: "Petaq!" <snaps Raffi's neck like a cheap Vorta>

Picard: "Thank you Mr Worf. You know, with that intolerable woman out of the way, I'm starting to feel myself again!"

Beverly: "Is that so, Jean Luc? You know, there's something I've been meaning to tell --"

Laris: "Now wait just a fecking minute Red."

Picard: "Ladies..." <discretely picks up PADD and messages Riker>

CappyPicard: OMG this is happening! :o
Imzati69er: Two bars of gold-pressed latinum on Laris.
    CappyPicard: You're on fuck face!

Nah, I don't want Clint to go out as a villain, I want him to come back as Balock, and reveal all his other Trek characters were him in disguise.
Like all the Stan Lees were one Stan Lee.

I'd rather see a grizzled old Shran on Strange New Worlds. He could be a friend of the chief engineer or something.

That’s what Kurtzman said a few years back, I don’t know if things have changed since then.
