    Gameplay trailer.

Looks promising at face value, and if there is the ability to mod SP content, they may have a real winner on their hands. The ability to play the entire game in VR is a strong selling point for me, as I have a full VR rig that currently doesn't see a lot of use.

    HOWEVER...

This is an EA release- the same company that made DA3 look good in trailers, but turned out to be a gigantic bowl full of SUCK.

So I'm skeptical, but hopeful. My philosophy here is as follows:

    1. EA title = no first day buy. I'll give it a month at a minimum, watching the reviews like a hawk.
    2. SP content has to be substantial. If it's a super-shallow SP experience on the periphery of a MP core, NO SALE.
    3. Micro-transactions of ANY KIND = NO SALE.

    So, we'll see.

It's got Hera from Rebels in it so I'm prolly in just for that. Be interesting to see how the VR works in multiplayer with some with, some without. And whether it'll link to my Quest headset - Oculus are promising tethering at some point.

Unfortunately I don’t have a PS4 or Xbox and my computer probably couldn’t handle a game like this. It looks great. They’ve promised no micro transactions but we will see.

I love the classic Star Wars flight sims though. X-Wing and TIE Fighter on PC and Rogue Squadron II for GameCube. I even like Star Wars Arcade for the 32X.

I still fire up my GameCube to play through mission even today. I have a HDMI plug for my GameCube which ups the resolution and makes the 20 year old games look fantastic.

This is a worthy successor to XWvTF, and it’s great on an Oculus Quest.

Quest or Rift? Just checking. Also - Quest v2 or original? I have the original, so if it's decent on that I may just get my mum to cancel the order for the Ps4 version and get me a voucher so I can get the Oculus version.

Quest 1. There is no Oculus version, you have to use the PC version plus Oculus Link.

Hmm, may need to look at that as have just replaced my PC and new one does have a VR-ready GPU... but not sure I have a long enough USB-C cable for Link (I have my PC hooked to the big TV so sit about 2 metres away).

This is pretty good. Got it for Christmas, and recently finished the single player. Not a super long single player, but it does a decent job of showing you the different ships and customization, gives you interesting locations, and provides a somewhat passable story. Haven't tried multiplayer yet.

I played for a bit on Xmas Day as Mum got me the PS4 version, but I found it very difficult to see what was going on, especially in tunnel sections. I don't know if the PS4 graphics might be optimised for VR by default or something? I know the TIE has limited visibility anyhoo due to the wing panels, but it was quite jarring.

Be aware that you don’t just need a USB-C cable, you need a USB-C 3.0+ cable, which run 2-4x the price. Also (ugh) get the Origin version of the game. The SteamVR integration sucks. And yeah, poor TIE visibility is part of the game (and one thing that makes VR even better, you can look over your shoulder for your target, at least in a New Repubic fighter.

I’m really impressed how well they balanced the fighters between the factions, and made the TIE Fighter not completely useless. Still, the TIE Interceptor and A-Wing seem massively OP relative to everything else, and the abysmal hull rating of the new TIE Defender makes it nearly unusable, IMO.
