Love all the posts where the poster can't refute an argument, so they re-write the post of their nemesis in a satirical or other disingenuous way in false 'quote' tags and smugly claim: FTFY! Gonna start making a point of calling motherfuckers out on this practice in the future.
Bus seriously, has Marso always been this much of a whiny bitch and I just never noticed over the Sokars and Hoods and Storms that used to be the public face of this board? Not even Chup was this pendantic, and I want to negrep him just on the principle of having to write that sentence.
Not sure who did this to you, but in future I for one will try to keep to the Marso approved mature debating style of posting multiple no source provided memes in a row.
And @Marso starts the year with a self own thread that is going to be hard to beat. Way to set the bar high for the 2020 village idiot competition.
You chose a poor hill to make this stand on. In the situation in question Oldfella had made a ridiculous claim (that leftforge thought only the US needed to cut emissions and the rest of the world could do whatever they want). When called on out it, he refused to back his claim up, instead falling back on the Dinner Technique of 'I remember someone saying it but won't waste my time to look it up'. That's bullshit. There is no way for the other side to 'refute' an assertion like that. Ever heard of proving a negative? What's the other side supposed to do, post links to every post left leaning folks have made and say 'see no one said what you said'? Since refutation isn't possible all that can be done is call out the bullshitter.
The past few months I've pointed out when I see "mind reading." Although more common is when leftforge argues against something you no right-winger actually said. Often that tactic is combined with mind reading, but a popular tactic is simply mischaracterize a right-wing pov, and then argue against things nobody on the right ever said. Though it's an easy trap to fall into - paint anyone who supports gun rights as "guns for all including certifiably crazy people." Anyone who support "free markets" obviously thinks all corporations only do good and all regulations are bad (even though nobody who supports free markets also claims all regulations are pointless, or supports "unfettered capitalism"). Anyone who thinks US changing to single-payer would be mistake is portrayed as being selfish and against health care for all (when in reality ALL OF US would like affordable health care for all, but those on the right simply disagree that M4A is a practical or realistic solution given fedgov's horrific track record). And on my side I also find it more convenient to portray all the "free stuff for all - medicare for all, free college and complete college debt forgiveness" as AOC-style socialism. Maybe I'm lazy - but I just don't find much value distinguishing the fine points of Warren's wealth tax, or Bernie's middle class taxes or AOC's brain-fart taxes. Sometimes generalizing Warren/Bernie/AOC as 'socialists' -although imprecise - saves a lot of time when simply contrasting those far-leftists with e.g. Biden Klobuchar or Mayor Pete as moderate leftists. [or on the right, only distinguishing between the Freedom Caucus/Tea Party vs the corporate-welfare GOP mainstream, and piling everyone on the right into those two buckets, although obviously there are more than 2 right wing groups].
And stupid. And racist. And bubbling over with the Dunning-Kruger effect. And slave to the sunk cost fallacy when it comes to Trump and the Republicans in general. And you probably smell like chicken soup.
Or "Join The Dots" in the case of most of the "minds" in question, and there's only four or five dots at most.
Sometimes it's simpler to dismiss the useless nonproductive dregs leeching on America's bounty who add virtually nothing ever to any (non-pop-related) discussion as 'basement dwelling parasites asking mom for his allowance right on through his 40s.' Sure, it could be an imprecise characterization - maybe you in fact identify as a "her" but would anything really be gained from such nuance?
Oh, brother, Tuttle answered. This will be boring. I'll just pass my eyes back and forth until I see "basement dwelling". That didn't take long. Under 5 seconds. Would've taken 2, but he used to many needless fluffed up dictionary words in his buildup. I think he thinks that's impressive. Again, Dunning-Kruger.
The guy is perpetually stuck in 2005. He loves cribbing that whole Brainless Anna Yolei shit that that Eccentric started* and the rest of the crony staff perpetuated as an excuse to ignore the danger Ted Wolf was to the women on this board. And also, I'm a woman, so I don't know nuthin' nohow *And come to think of it, given what a stage ten clinger he was and how I was very open about not being sexually available at the time because of my own traumas, it also explains why Ecc just studdenly flipped a switch on me overnight. I bet Tamar told him the anime-avatar dual he pounced on was me.
