Hey guys, starting December 1st, Wordforge will no longer be using Tapatalk. The software is buggy, security hole ridden, resource intensive, and some of the latest updates have been causing issues with our board software, Xenforo.

For those of you that still use Tapatalk, Xenforo uses a responsive design that makes it much easier to view Wordforge on a mobile device. I know some of you have issues with Wordforge on your Windows 8.1 phones (I have one and know this as well). It is a bug with IE 11 on the mobile version of 8.1. Since that browser is not being updated regularly any longer (Microsoft is dropping it in favor of Edge), I can recommend switching to a different browser. I have had the best luck with Opera. I can access WF, post, use smilies, and so on, without issue.

I realize this may be an inconvenience for some, but Tapatalk's recent changes have made the extension far more trouble than it's worth. As of now, there are no real alternatives to Tapatalk other than our default responsive design. Unfortunately, Tapatalk dominated the market before quickly falling into mediocrity, and any other alternative has long since been discontinued (I already tried Forum Runner, but they no longer support Xenforo).

Should there be a better option in the future, I will look into employing it. As it stands, though, Tapatalk will be discontinued on December 1st.

    Questions or comments welcome.

Thank fucking Christ. Now I'll stop getting asked if I want to use the damned thing every time I open the app.

Yeah, Xenforo does a fantastic job rendering the site on my phone, and we all know how supposedly obsolete it (the phone) is.

Yeah, my phone's a Nokia 520. It was the one Microsoft promised they would update to Windows 10, and then the deadline passed, and then passed again and again. Finally, they just came out with it and said "nah, we're not going to do it." So I use Windows 8.1, which is good, but having IE 11 is a pain in the ass. Using Opera, everything is faster, and I use the responsive design, too.

I did have Tapatalk at one time, but it, too, was a giant pain in the ass for me. I much prefer XF's default mobile setup.

Have you looked at getting a dirt cheap Blu phone? I've got a Moto G phone with similar specs, and just being able to run far more apps makes it worth the phone's shortcomings (since everyone's designing crap for the high end models, forgetting that the bulk of Android users are running phones with lower specs than this one).

Wow, that is a seriously good deal, and solid specs! I mean, I like my Windows phone, but Microsoft has essentially abandoned the platform. The Windows store is a complete joke, too. I'll check this out! :D

I haven't used any Blu phones, but I've had a couple of dirt cheap Android phones, they can have you pounding your head against your desk because they do stupid stuff, but for the price, you get enough to keep you coming back. Always good to poke around Android Central Forums to see if there's any dealbreakers or other issues, but if it's easy to root your phone, you can fix most of the problems.

This Windows phone was my first real smart phone, and it was a gift. I do like Cortana, but every Android phone comes with Google, so I'm holding onto my Windows phone because I like the digital assistant. I don't know how long that will go on, though, since my phone is slowing down a little more each day.

My dream phone would have been the Nokia hmmmm...1550(?) with IOS on it. I really wanted one of those Nokia's, but Windows phone was a deal breaker for me. I absolutely hate those live tiles.

Never used Tapatalk aside from when we first installed it and I was making sure it worked. Safari renders WF just fine on my iPhone.

It seems almost no one does. I tried it a few times, and each time it drove me nuts. It had the weirdest way of doing things. Then I found out it likes to divert people from one board to another if it thinks they'll like something better there, and I thought "well shit, we don't need that either." Plus, from what I've been reading, the app has become more of an albatross than an easy way to browse message boards. Combine that with the upcoming big update, and I thought it just isn't worth maintaining anymore. Also, 3 people have used it this month. It takes up resources, does little, and almost no one uses it. While I feel for the folks who want to keep using it here, the cons far outweigh the pros, and Wordforge's board software does a good job of replacing it.

Although I use Tapatalk, partly because I like being able to jump straight to WF with an app instead of having to type in an address, its interface has been getting less and less useful with each update.

Plus, its default behavior of displaying each thread's most recent image in the thread preview gets awkward when you're browsing in public and somebody's posted a swastika in a thread. :yuck:

Yep. I only touched on that a little bit, but yes, Tapatalk's interface is getting really kludgy. I have to test it from time to time to make sure everything works, and I just don't like it. Again, reading around on various forums and tech sites, Tapatalk is quickly declining in quality.

Oh, it's funnier than that. Someone finally explained how to get to the Violet Room (I thought it had been abandoned a few days after it was built when it disappeared off the forum list), and it turns out I don't have permission to view or post in the Violet Room anyway.

Oh, and there were no warnings. There were no PM's. Someone just made that up. :garamet:

Hey, sometimes you've got to make some sacrifices to attract new posters. If a tool that makes it easier to post here won't work with your kangaroo court star chamber nigger rigged ghetto for Undesirables, it's got to go. Because we can't have Undesirables reducing traffic. :marathon:
