USA Today is whining that there are not enough women or minorities in the film. Who the fuck did they think was going to be serving in the BEF in France in 19-fucking-40?

I was totally lost trying to figure out exactly what she was saying. I couldn't follow her at all.

Well, she's shitting on soldiers who we were given the order, "every man for themselves" and then she said Hans Zimmerman hasn't had a memorable score? Both claims are bullshit because the order was given, so they were following orders, they weren't being unpatriotic.

I just saw it. It's not a bad movie, but it's very different from anything Nolan has done. There's definitely not a lot of dialogue, but the dogfight scenes are pretty good. This isn't a movie about characters, it's more of a visual story, you sort of have to figure out what's going on. It's not the best Nolan film, but it's not a bad film. I'll ad that it's a pretty good portrayal of war.

That's a pretty accurate review, but don't take it as a bad review.

How could you take it as bad? The beach scene was the best part of Private Ryan.

The author uses the word bleak, which is a term I wouldn't want associated with my film. The film isn't bleak, but the situation depicted is.

I saw the photo and thought, "she seems really cute".

Then I watched the video and heard her awful voice.

Not cute.

I'd hit it, but her review is dead wrong.

I think Dunkirk is a good thriller, but it's not a masterpiece and it's by no means Nolans best film.

Like most of Nolans films, it's got a vaguely right-wing bent to it, in this case in the service of British nationalism. We'll fight them on the beaches. Green and pleasant land. Cups of tea. Spitfire's are awesome. None of which is really out of place of course, although its timing being aligned with Brexit is ironic.

UK rightwingers are still wimps compared to Murican ones.

Audio trick Nolan used in Dunkirk and other films. Really fascinating, because I'm certain that the trick has been used in various SF films and TV shows as well.

I saw Dunkirk a few days ago. Really good, but I have a question about the real Dunkirk event that google didn't answer! While many small private civilian boats were involved in the rescue, did a lot of those rescuers get killed and/or taken prisoner by the Nazis? They talk about the fate of those not rescued, but nothing about the actual physical danger to the civilian rescuers! I wish we could lure Chup out of dry-dock to answer this!

Interview with a vet who was at Dunkirk and saw the film. Reaaly hope somebody has sat down with this guy and talked with him at length about his experiences.

wow! That old vet is some "living history" right there. 97 years old and he's still walking around in good health! Yesit would be great to get his perspective on things.

My first reaction when I saw Dunkirk was, "what the fuckity fuck is up with Hans Zimmer's overly-loud and totally annoying score?"

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized what Nolan and Zimmer were trying to do.

I think they only partially succeeded.
