Of note, here in Canada, the Ontario Minister of Finance (basically the second-most powerful elected official in government) decided to take a Caribbean vacation over the Christmas holidays. This, despite the fact that government was implementing lockdown measures in response to the second wave of COVID-19.

While the Finance Minister technically didn't do anything illegal, his own party (the Conservative Party, I might add) threw him out of cabinet in response to his incredibly stupid decision.

I am not sure what is sadder: the notion that his going to Mexico against the background of his state suffering a catastrophe is more likely to result in negative consequences for him than his support of the insurrection, or that he is still likely to avoid any real consequences for years.

It's hard to tell with such a short clip, but I got the impression he was speaking to the reporter ( or whoever) and she started pinging his face to get his attention.

He literally looks right at his daughter and asks, "are you taking off?" and then she starts flicking at his face.

There's no other way to interpret that, other than a child saying, "leave me the fuck alone."
