And where would they have gotten the seeds/spores to grow edible vegetation? They were in the middle of a frozen wasteland.

As was true for many TOS episodes, the premise was ridiculous, but carried afloat by the charm of the actors and the strength of their acting.

    To everyone but you.

Ever going to address me about the Peter David scenario? Because you've just proven you can speak to me instead of around me when you want to.

So ask me now, or we'll assume you don't really want an answer.

I assume you realize that even during the worst of the ice ages on Earth, there were literally thousands of square miles where plants and animals grew much as today?

No reason to believe it was different on Sarpedion.

So now this thread has turned to discussing another thread? It's a bit of a let down, as I already read that one. Next time use spoiler tags! ;)

And if they happened to be found within walking distance of Zarabeth's cave, great. But randomly digging under the ice sheet would have been counterproductive.

Nevertheless, a mere human like Zarabeth managed to survive, but the three Vulcans in T'Pol's story had to risk contaminating human society to buy TV dinners.

The answer's obvious. "You asked me to tell you a story."

Yeah, honey, that you did. Just don't quit your Day Job. :garamet:

Star Trek is much more interesting than the original thread topic. Please carry on. :tos:

What is the Peter David scenario?

He did write one of my favorite Star Trek novels "Vendetta" though I could've done without the stuff with Guinan, her adoptive sister and the female Borg.

Separate conversation from a different thread, since resolved.

So let me get back to ranting about “Carbon Creek.”

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, from “the Vulcans can’t feed themselves without heading into town” all the way through to “Mestral also didn’t survive. We cremated them [Mestral and the captain].”

And how did you do that exactly? Hardly built a funeral pyre, because if the light show your ship made during the crash didn’t attract the townspeople’s attention, that sure as hell would. So, phasered them to ashes? Hell, if you had phasers, you could have used them to roast marshmallows (which, BTW, Spock shouldn’t have eaten in STV) or kill a deer without resorting to “savagery.” Right. Can’t examine that thought too closely.

And if you “cremated them,” you just leave the ashes on Earth? No little memorial urns to bring back to Vulcan for their next of kin?

Pulleeze. And those are just the bookends. I’m trying to think of something that wasn’t wrong about everything that happened in between, and I can’t.

The only thing to come out of that episode is the name T'Mir being used in the many T/T'p fanfiction where Polly pops out Trip's babies. Besides that...

I should get off my ass and finish the Enterprise reviews, but those episodes in season two are just sooooooo painful. Like the wisdom teeth I got pulled in boot camp. Or Volpone's ass after Pride weekend.

I like the outtakes of that epsisode, especially the one where they all act drunk during their last scene together. Does that count? :ramen:
