On closer inspection, this is a worthless, cowardly decision.

Orban is driving the EU before him. He is and remains a disciple of Putin. The EU is divided, almost incapable of acting and can't do anything that will help Ukraine in concrete terms. The Germans are the leading power in the EU, but they of all people have a hesitant, almost paralysed chancellor who can't decide whether he should rather show consideration for Putin or prevent Ukraine from being overrun and ultimately destroyed. Scholz is a total failure. Germany has hardly supplied any weapons so far. Why? They simply don't have any and prefer to tear each other apart over details. The Germans have lived in a hippie world for decades and have now woken up rudely.

Don't be fooled, the whole situation is enough to make you cry.

...And let's talk about Erdogan. This scumbag, this Islamist fascist, this embarrassing dictator is preventing Finland and Sweden from joining NATO on ridiculous grounds. This troglodyte has been holding NATO and the whole of Europe hostage for years just because his run-down country has a strategically important position. And he gets away with it! Fuck this weasel.

Scholz? Fuck this guy. A dithering, weak old hippie with long-lasting ties to Putin. He is completely overwhelmed by the situation and prefers to do nothing but produce empty phrases. He is trying to sit the matter out.

The situation is bad at the moment. Don't be fooled, Europe is weak and Ukraine only gets warm words.

And let's talk about the damn Swiss for a moment. We have a lot of weapons we could deliver to the Ukrainians IMMEDIATELY... But we are neutral, we like the money of the Russian oligarchs and prefer to have our borders protected by NATO anyway. Free of charge, of course. It's a goddamn disgrace.

    It's just sickening.

Let's see if this time words are followed by deeds. Or whether the matter will once again come to nothing.

So we're a few months away from a global food crisis, the likes of which we haven't seen since 2012 or 2008

It's probably time to start using NATO Naval ships and minesweepers to escort much needed food shipments out of Ukraine and past Russia's illegal blockade in international waters

Is that not a good idea?

I think we should just take Ukraine back for them at this point.

What are we running short on? Ukraine won’t be exporting any wheat, but that’s only a ~1% drop in global wheat production. US and China farmers alone can probably make up the shortfall there, and as I understand it, have been.

Wouldn't they be getting higher prices as well? "Tis an ill wind, indeed that blows no one any good." Or put another way "Fortune passes everywhere." :clyde:

Fertilizer supply from Russia, less than ideal food growing conditions (flooding or drought) in a lot of areas, and the cost and availability of freight are also big issues

I think at this point every little bit helps

I’m pretty sure the flooded areas and drought areas can solve their own problems by working together!

While the hacker's collective known as Anonymous certainly exists sometimes I think the US intelligence infrastructure uses it as cover for their own deeds. They are highly decentralized, so it would be hard for some of them to know another cell didn't do the thing that the NSA just did but claimed was Anonymous.
