To be honest, the legacy Soviet subs are worn out. Also, the Russian government have serious issues with refitting ships, with some being in refit for literally decades......then being scrapped. I doubt the Russian government has the funds to keep Dmitri Donskoi in service, especially since several new Boomers have hit the water recently(The Borei class SSBN). They've been divesting themselves of older subs now, for a couple of years. The Victor III class boats have almost all been withdrawn, as have the last of the Delta III class SSBN's and the Sierra I class SSN's. Dmitri Donskoi is labor intensive, and run into the ground.

I wonder if that's an attempt to isolate India now that they've flexed with a second carrier group :chris:

It’s interesting. A lot of the manufacturing that would go to China is going to India now. India will pass China in population this year. And both are competing to secure discounted Russian oil and gas. And at the same time their border tensions are intensifying.

Obviously, if Ukranians hadn't written any books then there wouldn't be any for Russia to have to throw away. Why they practically brought this upon themselves.

    Serbia has Republicans too.

Just another astro-turf movement. The far right is always seeking backing, they don't care who it's from.

‘Only morons attack head-on’ A number of prominent Russian military bloggers have been unrestrained in their criticism of the Vuhledar offensive.

“They were shot like turkeys at a shooting range,” said former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov, who has become a strident critic of the campaign.

Strelkov, also known as Igor Girkin, added on Telegram that “a lot of good T-72B3/T-80BVM tanks and the best paratroopers and marines were liquidated.”

In another post on Telegram, Strelkov wrote: “Only morons attack head-on in the same place, heavily fortified and extremely inconvenient for the attackers for many months in a row.”

Russia’s military bloggers have tens and sometimes hundreds of thousands of subscribers to their Telegram channels. They have been highly critical of previous episodes in the campaign.

Better to start training on the F-16 now than tomorrow but it will take a while regardless.

What we really need to do is get them the GLSDBs ASAP. Hopefully we are already prepositioning and are just waiting for Russia to commit their Reserves in this offensive and then just let the Ukrainians pulverize them.

Medium term we need to speed up PrSM production so we can start giving the Ukrainians our old ATACMS.

The M270 (which we and allies have given Ukraine a lot of and have plenty more) carries the same rocket systems as HIMARS. Twice as much. They are just older, heavier, slower and more maintenance intensive. So Ukraine has to keep them further back. The HIMARS only appears to have a longer range because it can quickly run up to the front lines, fire and get the hell out (Shoot’n’Scoot).

Once we give them longer range missiles in volume pretty much the entire Muscovite invasion force will be within range of the M270 at which point it is effectively game over.

Drone footage of Ukraine dealing with Russian forces. If it were a scene from a comedic movie, it wouldn’t play out much differently. Dudes are advancing out in the open, one of them suddenly falls over, his buddies run over to see what happens, and then one of them gets shot. You can see the survivors standing there going “WTF? What happened to Ivan?” Then another falls over. At this point, the remaining people run, only to get hit. Lather, rinse, and repeat.

Russian T-90 tanks don't seem to do much better than older versions of Russian tanks against Ukrainian forces.

French AMXs are supposed to arrive in Ukraine any day now.

I gotta say that if I gotta spend my days riding around in an apocalyptic hellscape, while dealing with invaders, getting taken out while driving one of these ala Mad Max, wouldn't be a bad way to go.

    3amx.jpeg

What? AMC was owned by Renault back in the 70s, and the AMX was a badass car, hobbled by being produced by a company that was running out of money (why they got bought by Renault). You think that the French aren't going to utilize such an epic piece of automotive technology? We're talking about people who do things like this for fun!

Thus, President Biden was closer to the front lines than the cowardly pig Putin ever was. The scumbag prefers to hide in his bunker or chug around in his armored train.
