What is the deal going on with it now?

Who has responsibility for it? If the answer is no one then that needs to change.

Someone needs to go through and clean out the dead crap and possibly add some fresh stuff.

Information and or volunteers, please! [IMG]

It was Borg's pet project, and nobody who has Admin CP access cares to figure out how to work it, and anyone who cares isn't getting access right yet.

I believe we created a joint group to solve this problem, but that seems to have died off.

I'd be glad to help out too - I could probably get the more technical stuff worked out.

And I promise I'd get permission before deleting half of the crappy games in there ;).

It's not a Tech thing with the Arcade?

It's not like anyone gave me a manual or anything. I'm just trying not to accidently kill the board or anything. :calli: ;)

I suggest we get rid of the Arcade forum, any comments about the Arcade can easily be posted in Entertainment Central, The Green Room, Geekforge or The Help Desk.

Next up is dumping all the games that don't work or aren't popular.

    I'd only keep
    • Asteroids
    • Bombjack
    • Flashbert
    • Hexxagon
    • Snake
    • Space Invaders
    • Tetris (Classic version)

I'd like more variety than that though.

Finding some new options would be lovely.

There's like two hundred games someone has socked away that were never installed or tested. I forget who, now . . .

I like the brief list, Clyde. Asteroids is da bomb!

Oh absolutely, there are plenty of games I'd like to add. Just thought we should clean up the existing arcade first. :)

This page has a good Pac-Man, the Frogger stops working at level three and the Donkey Kong just repeats the first level over and over.

Here's an okay version of Centipede and a better looking Frogger though I haven't tested either yet. And I think this version of Q-Bert is better than the one we currently have.

This site has a lot of free games I've never heard of if anybody wants to give it a look.

Here's a similar version of the Frogger linked in post #14 but it has better game play. It's called Froggster.

You have to register to play but it's free and doesn't seem to need a valid E-mail address.

Yeah, I think we should. Tech guys, do we need to do anything special to get that done? Or can any Admin do it?

I don't know what the heck I'm doing in there. I'd as likely burn the place down as fix anything. :calli:

I still have all the games from Borgs, there's over 500 games, I've tested about 70. Does anybody remember the other two game testers? They probably tested some as well.

Does anybody else want to test some?

We're upgrading the arcade? I thought we did that with the big upgrade. Or are you just talking about changing up the game selection, in which case, we need to figure out who's doing what.

Mainly changing up the game selection, getting rid of the games that are broken or crappy and adding some that aren't.

The arcade itself could use a little tweaking, for example the tabs for Puzzle, Action, Retro, Sport and Shooters are empty but that's no big deal.

Seems I don't have access to add or delete games. Shouldn't the games be uploaded into the AdminCP/games directory?

    *chuckles*

I had just sent you a PM, too. Literally..just.

I'm not sure, I'll see if I can figure it out. But most likely one of the Tech guys will have to explain/fix it.

So only an Admin can add/remove games?

Okay, well I'd still like to help make the arcade better. :)

    Right now there are [?=28]

    1. AirFox
    2. Alien Hominid
    3. Arkanoid (Breakout)
    4. Asteroids
    5. Battle Pong
    6. Bombjack
    7. Bookworm
    8. Burger Time
    9. Chopper Challenge
    10. City Jumper (stops working on level 30)
    11. Colors (Simon)
    12. Contract Slap
    13. Escape from Neverland
    14. Flashbert
    15. Frogger (stops working on level three)
    16. Hexxagon
    17. Ilya Voloshin's Tetris (Crap)
    18. It Came From the Crypt (Doesn't Save)
    19. Kirby's Star Scramble
    20. Lasagna From Heaven
    21. Mice 2
    22. Snake
    23. Space Invaders
    24. Surf's Up (Doesn't work)
    25. Synj Sneak
    26. Teddy Goes Swimming
    27. Tetris (Classic version)
    28. Tetris Arcade[/?]games in the arcade,

    [?=17]

    1. Airfox
    2. Alien Hominid
    3. Arkanoid
    4. Asteroids
    5. Bombjack
    6. Burger Time
    7. Bookworm
    8. Chopper Challenge
    9. Flashbert
    10. Hexxagon
    11. Mice 2
    12. Snake
    13. Space Invaders
    14. Synj Sneak
    15. Teddy Goes Swimming
    16. Tetris (Classic version)
    17. Tetris Arcade[/?]work well.

    Of those I’d keep [?=7]games:

    1. Asteroids
    2. Bombjack
    3. Flashbert
    4. Hexxagon
    5. Snake
    6. Space Invaders
    7. Tetris (Classic version)[/?]

All that’s left is adding games; so far there’s been interest in:

    1. Caveman Olympics
    2. Centipede
    3. Frogger (a better version)
    4. Joust
    5. Ms. Pac-Man

Except for a decent version of Centipede I've found all of these games.

And there are hundreds more that can be added.
