"Function" is a fancy way of saying "hiding it".

    It's not "dealing with it".

Dealing with it is healing. "Functioning" is learning to hobble or pretending the scars don't ache on the cold days.

In any event, pretending the scars aren't inflicted and even encouraging it, as you seem to be, is a fucking awful position to take.

No one will be stopping you from trading anything with anyone. But, anyone else can do the same. If I have enough food for a week, it doesn’t matter what you trade me for it, because I can’t eat whatever it is you are trying to trade for food so you don’t have to contribute. You may find someone, sure. But, what do you do when you run out of shit to trade? You will then need to contribute.

Even setting aside how thoroughly UA sucks at suppressing emotion, the desire to suppress emotion is itself an emotional choice.
Which is why the Vulcans have always bugged me.
It's not all or none, it's balance.

Life is scars. The absence of discomfort is the fantasy refuge FROM life.

Also, don't think I haven't noticed that my original point was "bullies are cowards" and he went straight to "bullying is fictional"...

Throw yourself in a threshing machine.

Your good buddies at Nestle. Their currency is now worthless, but they still control all that water.

    "Corporations aren't people! "

But someone was in charge. More likely SEVERAL somebodies. They are now water warlords. They don't need shit from you, and they aren't giving up the water. How do you deal with that without confiscation?

The point of being a learning animal is you can help make sure the next generation don't get the same scars.

But you seem to think because your dick got clamped in a vice, everyone's should.

THAT* is a fantasy. Instilling that in a child is sabotaging their ability to contend with the adversity that will always exist in reality.

*not the vice part. I enjoy the occasional clamping. :j:

    "I still function!"

Yeah. You're still going out the airlock Megatron.

And there's no giant Orson Welles waiting to enslave you.

    Pity.

I'd pay solid money to see Judd Nelson kick your ass.

Don't distort things. Cyber-bullying is fiction, but I agree that real bullies are cowards.

But then, saying something online you wouldn't say to someone's face is also cowardice. To say nothing of the shitbags who think "doxxing" and "swatting" are super cool badassery.

And if you don't think I would call any of you a bag of pissflaps to your face, you have entirely the wrong impression.

I dunno, if Orson Welles told him "then proceed...on your way....TO OBLIVION!" he'd probably just die.
Not out of any sense of heroism for his cause, he just can't get himself out of the logic corners he gets himself into.
"Oh, shit, I have to die, huh? Okay, bye, everybody".

UAs continual victim blaming when it comes to bullying continues to make me sad for whatever fucked up upbringing he had.

    Also,

So if 100%, zero-compromise success isn't assured, there is no point in even trying, and you might as well surrender to apathy.

Great life coaching there, champ. I expect big things from you. :techman:

There was no victim blaming. Do not put words in my mouth. "Blame" is for idle people who prefer pointing fingers to dealing constructively with situations. And don't dilute the concept of "victim," either. If you can switch off a device and rob your "attacker" of all power instantly, you are no victim.

To reach that conclusion, you have to delete the part where I said not all or nothing, but balance.
But you answered that part in a separate post.
You had to fucking time-travel to be that intellectually dishonest.
    Well done!

    Speaking of idle people...

Your "balance" is a crippling dose of "all," and there is no talking your way out of that one. Deny it all you like.

    Explain.

To "blame" is to identify who is at fault. Start there.

This is why I didn’t explain in the first place. You aren’t trying to understand. And if you think what you’re describing isn’t exactly what is actually happening today, you aren’t paying attention.

Isn't that like saying, "When you can avoid the bullies in person, it's not bullying?"

Haven't you just given in to the (cyber)bullying by doing what they want?

It's still bullying. It's just that there are arguably tools to avoid both real-life and cyberbullying.

Also, even saying that someone can isolate themselves from Twitter, Facebook, local social media platforms, text messages, and wherever else, the rest of the person's IRL social network can be found there and bullying on those various networks pretty much will almost inevitably port over to real life.

    Yep.

UA's answer to "X beats the crap out of me every time I go to the mall" is "well, don't go to the mall".

If you have to avoid an activity you should be able to engage in (and others you might want to socialise with CAN) to prevent bullying, then the bully still has power over you.

UA won't get this, of course.

He probably still thinks Al-Qaeda lost the War on Terror after the DHS was set up and he has to take his shoes off to get on a plane.
