I watched this last night. Oh my god what a stinker. How do you go from making The Winter Soldier and the Infinity War movies to a movie you’d find at the bottom of a Walmart DVD bin? First of all the location jumps are way too much. They jump so many locations I just gave up. The did finally settle on on two main locations, but it takes almost a whole hour. It also takes them about an hour to get any real story and character beats. They do a little bit with Gosling and the girl kind of early on, but really it’s not enough and is kind of awkwardly placed. Chris Evans is a literal mustache twirling villain who’s so one dimensional. Gosling gets some good one liners and Billy Bob Thornton is always good. He doesn’t phone this in when he could have easily done so. Speaking of BBT, he’s pushing 70 and has a niece that’s like somewhere between 10-13. You do the math on that. Not entirely unbelievable, but come on. Oh and the niece talks like an adult with quippy one liners. This is a trend in Hollywood I’m getting real sick of. The action is so boring. It’s just non stop jumping from set piece to set piece. Well choreographed, but dumb, dumb, dumb. Slow down the action guys, seriously. Worst of all, things that happen in this movie is just simply unbelievable, like I don’t believe they could happen. By the end both Gosling and Evans should be bleeding to death, but nope, they keep fighting like they’re super heroes and not supposed to be real people. Bond, Bourne and Hunt all do some unbelievable shit, but this goes beyond those movies. How does it end? With a set up for a sequel because Netflix wants to make this a franchise. You’d be better off just watching the Pitch Meeting for this one, it would be super easy, barely an inconvenience. I also saw a Collider review that pretty much sums up my thoughts. https://collider.com/the-gray-man-review-ryan-gosling-chris-evans-russo-brothers-netflix/
Family age relationships can be out of whack. I have a niece only 1 year younger than me. From my half-sister who is from my Dad's 1st marriage. Perfectly possible for a niece to also be much younger if your younger sibling was a decade or so removed from you.
I know that. They want Gosling’s character to be her de facto guardian because, spoiler alert, BBT dies. So I’m guessing in further sequels they go on little adventures together and blah, blah, blah. I just thought it was a little silly.
You may not know many teenagers. It’s been my experience, teenagers, especially girl teenagers, have more capacity and shoots off more clever one-liners than most adults. Perhaps, it’s just been too many years of watching unrealistic tv shows with teenagers acting like adults wish teenagers would act. THAT’s the unrealistic part.
This thread is for a discussion on the movie "The Grey Man" on Netflix, not your personal trolling and insults.
I'm just spitting facts. I know how much you hate those but they're a normal part of any conversation
That would reveal my personal information and you know that. Discuss the movie or stop posting in this thread.
Oh so you can't prove it Anyways, moving on, has anyone seen For All Mankind? That's a really great show
There is a thread for the show “For All Mankind” , you’re free to post your opinions on that show in that thread.
So anyways I just finished the second season of For All Mankind and the last two episodes were some of the best sci fi I’ve seen in a long time. Pity about Gordo though
