I have a feeling Trump thinks he can do to the WSJ what he did to ABC and CBS. You know, bully them into giving him money without it actually going to trial. However, Murdoch stopped like Trump a long time ago, and bringing Trump down now will ensure that there's no Democrat who can take over before at least 2028. Though they might wait until after the mid-terms to take him out, so that they have a chance of getting the feckless Vance as President for 10 years.
One of the nice things about shitty yet powerful people is that when conflict between them gets bad enough, they eventually try to destroy each other. Unfortunately, most of them keep themselves in check because they understand the concept of mutually assured destruction. But, when it does happen, it tends to happen to the very worst. Now that it's happening to Trump, I'm sure the democrats will do everything in their power to continue not doing a damn thing about all the fascism.
Epstein’s former model girlfriend claims disgraced financier and sex offender was once ‘best friends’ with Trump
Can we pause for a moment to appreciate the sheer audacity of the Republicans who responded to "hey, where's the Epstein list" with "OMG, Democrats want us to publish kiddie porn"? I mean, there's garden-variety dishonesty, and then there's raising dishonesty to an art form.
There were a number of possible reps to give this post, but I ended up with "funny." For those who don't know, "pro se" is Latin for someone representing themselves. There's an old saying: a person who represents themselves has a fool for a lawyer. Given his wealth and prominence, it is telling that Trump could not find anyone to take this case. Maybe it is the validity of the case (or lack thereof). Maybe it's that Trump seems like a nightmare for a client. Maybe it's the poor fate that has happened to many of his previous lawyers. (There was a joke that "MAGA" should stand for Make Attorneys Get Attorneys"). We will see if he is able to bully someone into pursuing this on his behalf, or if we will get to see his very stable genius at work.
I first came across the saying when reading about Ted Bundys final trial and how he represented himself for most of it.
Ironically, he did a fairly decent job. And his point about using dental impressions for identification was very valid. Which is why they arent normally accepted as evidence anymore.
Agreed the judge even said at the end of the trial "you would have made a fine lawyer but you went another way partner" perhaps not verbatim but words to that effect, which I always thought was pretty insensitive addition from the judge even if it was true considering the court was filled with victim family members. Anywho when reading that was the first place i noted the saying.
Every Sunday I listen to Fox News Sunday because at least it is a Sunday Show (for non-Americans and idiot Americans ‘Sunday Shows’ are where the major networks have on major politicians to discuss the prior week and answer questions). I don’t actually watch Fox News. I don’t have cable. But I do listen to Fox News Sunday every Sunday. Maybe it is just a coincidence but so far they aren’t posting the episode.
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/0...e_code=1.YU8.mlvr.8QT_2DrG5hK3&smid=url-share So the Republicans are shutting down the House to avoid releasing more info on the Epstein case? That sure is something
I didn’t have Epstein files on my midterm Bingo card but anything to assist the Republicans with losing their majority works for me.
To be fair, as she is still fighting her conviction/sentencing as I understand it, she has an incentive to not say anything. Which serves Trump's purpose as well. I think she would have to know that she could not rely on Trump or his DOJ for a sentence reduction and/or a pardon because I think his base would go even more berserk if he even contemplated those things, let alone acted on them. You wouldn't have to be a conspiracy theorist obsessed with pedophiles to have issues with Maxwell saying something that tended to exonerate Trump and then getting a lighter sentence or a pardon. I don't know if anyone could defend such a move with a straight face.
I know plenty who would, and they're all on FOX, Newsmax, OANN who will outright lie, and then supported by CNN, MSNBC and others who will be mystified by what it all could mean.
