This has got a bit of attention in the last week or so since those emails came out. Not so much the influence Palmers spending had on the election, that was already known, but the fact that it was part of a wider far right campaign. Gina Rinehart (Australia's richest woman, mining billionaire, and amateur Jabba the Hutt impersonator) is spinning up support for our far right One Nation party at the moment. Having this reminder of why billionaires want to spend so much of their money on influencing elections can only be a good thing.
