Not that I can gather. The police have been pretty clear he’s cooperating fully. The whole phone thing was over the phone itself, they can get the records and information in other ways.

It is not like he is hiding anything. If the GPS was on or if there was phone calls at a certain time can easily be verified without the police using his phone.

If it can be proven that he was attacked exactly as he claims then I will feel glad for him - his reputation won't be sullied or his integrity questioned. I'm quite sure he wants to be believed if it indeed happened - who wouldn't? If his story is a hoax I will pity him because he obviously has some mental health issues or maybe (hopefully not) he is trying to push some political agenda or make some kind of a statement.

As for holes in his story I already listed some of them. Do you have access to google? Google up "holes in Smollett's story" and you can read them for yourself. And the police can believe him all they want to but they can't shit evidence. All they have so far is grainy surveillance camera pictures of two "persons of interest". No evidence of the liquid poured on him or his clothing, no eye witnesses to the actual attack, no audio proof from the phone call that was underway with his manager ( I think, maybe it was his friend) when he got attacked, etc. The police have no reason to not believe him, but they can't do much without evidence and solid leads.

Doesn't everyone here on wordforge have access to google? There are holes in his story - there are unanswered questions that haven't been addressed. I'm not making anything up, I'm just asking pretty much the same questions everyone is asking. Again, google it and you will see what kinds of questions people are asking - granted these questions are not asked by people who assume that he must be telling the absolute truth. Possessing curiosity, common sense and skepticism doesn't make somebody racist or homophobic.

Regardless I am genuinely interested in how this whole thing shakes out. I don't like unsolved mysteries - I want proof of exactly what happened.

There aren’t holes, you just don’t know. If the police suspected something was up, that would be different. But they don’t. This is pure speculation based on you and others on WF not knowing something. You’re unaware of what really happened and immediately assumed it was fake and I can’t really know or speculate why. But the only actual holes are in your knowledge because the police aren’t releasing that.

They aren't going to say it publicly because of the politics of him being black and gay but I guarantee you that the detectives watching all those hours of video with no evidence being produced plus Smollett's refusal to let them have his cell phone for the GPS and time stamps means that they are thinking it's a hoax. They just can't come out and say it because the higher ups won't let them.

You know who makes up fake attacker information? White people. Look at all the black people being released and exonerated by DNA evidence. We have to go back and examine a lot of our old convictions because white people said a black man did it and they were lying. Do you project much?
