He dropped the case because he is literally not allowed to prosecute it, no matter what the evidence says.

No no, FF knows the law, Trump's charges aren't being dropped because he was elected as they say, but because they've suddenly and completely coincidentally decided to end the witch hunt.

In fact to show this, I'm sure that @Steal Your Face will do the thing that will prove him right, by quoting the part of the statements dropping the charges that shows his legal views are proved by it.

Your being wrong or right or having knowledge of the law have nothing to do with the reasons why Jack Smith dropped the case.

On face value, Smith articulated the reasons why he dropped the case: DOJ policy says that a sitting president cannot be prosecuted, period, paragraph.

Under such circumstances, it would not matter if Donald Trump posted videos on all social media that exist of him confessing to each and every crime of which he has been accused and then some. Smith won't be able to really get close to bringing any of his cases to trial between now and January 20, 2025.

It certainly would be fair to say that Smith decided to drop the cases not because of his stated reason, that he did it knowing full well that Trump's election meant that Trump was going to get to use his famous "You're fired!" phrase to him and so he decided to wrap things up. Or that he had any of a number of other motives.

However, it needs to be noted that Trump was indicted multiple times by grand juries made up of ordinary citizens who saw actual evidence and got instructed on the law; that multiple judges approved the search warrant of Mar-a-Lago and oversaw the criminal prosecutions of Trump and that there is publicly available evidence that supports Trump's potential guilt in each of these cases.

It also should be pointed out that if the true objective was to prevent Trump from running again, any sane/competent person would have known to get them far earlier than these prosecutions were, because it would have to be known that there would be the manifold legal issues would grind things slowly and that it would either unlikely to impossible to have outcomes on any of the trials if charges were just brought in 2022/2023. Anybody with familiarity with the actual legal system beyond what might be seen in Law & Order would know that a standard criminal case against a random low-level defendant can take a year or more to get to trial, and that because a) we're talking about a former president and b) we're talking about a billionaire, there would be easily millions that he could bring to bear in his defense and there will be more legal and procedural hoops to go through, which would mean that the case would go longer.

It remains to be seen if Trump is going to be using his DOJ the way he claims Biden/Harris did. If he does, I'm sure you'll be just as outspoken about that supposed "lawfare."
