I took a short road trip this morning, this song came up on my Pandora random settings, and I realized I have forgotten how much I miss being 20. I'm sure FF will hate this because a woman is young and free and happy.

I was thinking "Pink Pony Club" might be more the soundtrack of your life...

never heard it. you should post a link. I do like pink. never been much into ponies, though. Actually, any animal that is larger than I am is not really anything I was ever "into".

There are a few songs that will take me right back to the time when they were popular and getting a lot of radio play and that's one of them.

I had a friend who liked that song. I felt it was condescending. She didn’t. Then again, she was always self righteous and hypocritical. I was not surprised when she chose her right wing politics over our friendship.

    Eh.
    I've seen them three times.
    Twice with my wife.
Going to make it a 4th time in October.
Which ties them with Garbage for number of times I've seen a band perform.

First of all that song is great and I probably listen to it weekly.

But I just want to understand what your definition of road trip is. Because "a short road trip this morning" is incongruous to my understanding of the definition of road trip, which necessarily includes a much bigger part of the day than the morning (again, from my understanding and experience).

Not trying to throw shade or be a dick, just trying to understand. Could simply be a cross-cultural difference.

I drove about an hour and a half south. Just under a hundred miles.

Back in the day, I’ve driven across the country several times. My older child stayed with family members when I first entered the military, so every holiday and vacation I’d have to drive to whichever sibling he was staying with.

I’ve driven multiple times between Chicagoland and Omaha.

That morning, though, it was just a short jaunt down the road about a hundred miles and back.

When I lived in Chicagoland, I worked with a woman who had to commute for nearly an hour and a half. One way. I couldn’t imagine that. a half hour was long enough for me.

Two times in my career I had a one-way commute of 60 miles.

Now I live five miles from my job and on a bad day it takes maybe 15 minutes to get to work and slightly longer to get home in the evening.

I passed on a job earlier this year because it not only would've been a slight pay cut, but it also would've tripled my commute, exacerbating the pay cut. I really wanted to take that job, too. :garamet:

"Daniel" is my favorite Elton John because I still remember listening to it on the radio in our family Oldsmobile when I was little. Plenty of other songs but I only seem to associate them with at least a little later in life.

Eddie is a fucking legend at any age. I dislike DLR, but the song is much better when sung by him.
