Ugh. How quickly does a turbo 350 burn itself up? Transition me into something with an inline-six and a transfer case.
Those mid-70s Firebirds/Trans Ams and Camaros looked cool, but the engines were really anemic. The 6-cylinders in mine and my wife's vehicles have more horsepower than those big 70s V-8s.
Hold the fuck up. "The 7-movie Outlaw collection"?!? Who the fuck even bothered watching Smokey and the Bandit III? I had to look that shit up. Four of them are Bandit TV movies that I was just fine not ever knowing existed.
That's why you drop a modern crate engine into it. I had an 87 Trans Am GTA. Total "Knight Rider" look. Barely made 200 HP. I have a Subaru Forester with more mulepower than that now. I love my Gen 2 and Gen 3 GM F-Bodies, but yeah, you have to "do stuff" to them to get good performance.
The Longest Yard was peak Burt Reynolds. The Cannonball Run was the funnest movie made by Reynolds. But then, a Trans Am has nothing on a Lamborghini Countach.
