I can't even remember all the shows I've enjoyed in recent years that didn't provoke any reaction here. Even just lately, Silo for example is ongoing - no one's discussing it. Reacher's not genre but it's high profile. Nothing about the Caped Crusader series, nothing about MAwS, nothing about X-Men '97. Legend of Vox Machina. Not much discussion of Daredevil, nothing much said about Lanterns (which I found really intriguing), let alone lower profile interesting shows like Sugar (which I'll bet most of you never heard of) But even going back a few years. No one here discusses Foundation, no one even noticed "The Man Who Fell to Earth", no one ever talk about The Handmaid's Tale, no one noticed "Common Side Effects" or "Pantheon" or "Arcane". Fallout. JK Simmons has had TWO short but interesting series the last few years. I still mourn that the Writer's strike killed "The Peripheral" I mean, on one hand I get it in that you can't trust streamers to let a good show grow into an audience before it gets cancelled, but this is the nerdy little corner of the internet where we're supposed to notice.
Counterpart was fucking awesome and I wish it hadn't gotten cancelled. There's a thread about it that's about as short as the series was. As I said back then, they left a crack in the door for a continuation, but it's been seven years so that ain't happening.

No comment on either of those threads in three years. Hell, i challenged the whole damn board to talk about Paradise, which is kinda brilliant - ETA: I will concede Reacher's not exactly deep and thus isn't exactly given to discussions of "what just happened?"
TV and movies have been squeezed out of my active media habits. I've seen two new movies in the past 4-5 years and maybe one episode that wasn't just me existing in the same room as KJ. (Doctor Who and MST3k excepted, and I'm still only a few episodes into the latest Doctor.) If I'm watching anything it's something old while I'm doing dishes or laundry.
The last series that I can think of, that I enjoyed was Alien: Earth. I'm trying to think of others, and then there's Reacher, which I still like. The Boys, which I loved ended, so that sucks.
I have a handful of newer shows that I watch, but for the most part I watch old stuff. You'll more likely catch me watching MASH, WKRP in Cincinnati, Andy Griffith, Star Trek (all of them), and things like that. A lot of new shows simply don't catch my attention.
I watched all but the last fifteen minutes of this season. Pretty weird, right? I stopped it fifteen minutes from the end.
Are they coloring books? Anyway. Television is pretty much dead to me, at least newer stuff. I'm not going to subscribe to 4 or 5 different streaming services to watch shit I can find elsewhere when I want to. I'm talking piracy here. It is a thing again. The studios have somehow not managed to learn the lessons of the past and have shot themselves in the foot yet again, somehow. Which reminds me I have had all the episodes of Pluribus stashed away on my hot little hard drive for awhile now, and I'm still mulling over the idea of watching it all now or waiting until just before the next season is released 2 or 3 years from now. They need to knock that shit off, too.
It's also fragmented as shit with all the 67 streaming services out there and the fact that none of them last two seasons anymore. And you'll be lucky if the gap between those two seasons doesn't cross over into a new Presidental administration The last streaming original I was invested in was Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies bc I already had P+ and they didn't seem to be *too* terrible for its original shows. They pulled it from the service a month after the finale. Lesson learned.
This is why I recommend piracy when the show is streaming, and then just buy the DVDs later on. They don't care how popular it is, it's all a quick smash and grab, drop two seasons, and then push people towards the next shiny item in the library to keep them paying per month.
Can only buy the DVD if they release 'em. Most Netflix originals never got one. Only two subscriptions I pay for is P+ and Crunchyroll and frankly, if my elderly mother whose laptop was bought ten years ago and collects dust wasn't on the P+ account for her soaps, I would've long jettisoned that.
This 100%. Streaming has trained audiences toto expect shows they like to be canceled, or take so long to come out that they might as well have been. Now we're used to shit like "This shows been renewed...Psyche! It's actually canceled!" How long do you guys think TNG would have lasted if it only got ten episodes a season and we had to wait a year or more for the next one? TNG year one on the streaming era would have been: Encounter at Farpoint The Naked Now Heart of Glory 110011001 The Last Outpost Skin of Evil Datalore Conspiracy The Neutral Zone And then 15 months till the scintillating season 2 premiere, "The Child" I wonder if TNG would even have made it to a season 2.
Oof, yeah, I forgot about that. Yep. Netflix went from "sharing is caring" to "ONLY THE PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSE AND ONLY TWO DEVICES!" even though they're making more money than ever. Enshittification once again rears its ugly head.
I just don’t have the time to watch more than one show at once and even then i usually have to wait to watch shows i want to see. Like i really want to start Silo and its on S3 i think now, fuck! But then something like Lanterns comes along so i push it down the road. I wish this wasn’t the case but duty calls
Yep. I rarely watch TV shows anymore. I still catch WWE on occasion as well as SNW when it has something new. I really got into that IT: Welcome to Derry series and am looking forward to S2. Same goes for movies. A few here and there, but I rarely go to the movies anymore. I'd rather wait a few months and catch it online. I just don't care much about what Hollywood is doing anymore. How many times do you have to hear "If you don't like, don't watch" before finally taking them up on the offer?

The last network show I watched and loved was Person of Interest. They have caught my eye with a few mystery-box shows (Manifest, for example) but they inevitably disappoint me. As for streamers, the short seasons grate but the benefit is that you're not overwhelmend with too much to keep up with at once (albeit I have a LONG list of past stuff I want to watch or watch again that I never seem to get to) For example, as we speak my week in new TV is Lanters, Reacher, SNW, and Silo. Four hours a week is manageable.
Current rotation is: Futurama Rick and Morty Lanterns SNW Always Sunny From Old County Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Reacher Batman: Caped Crusader Can't muster much enthusiasm for Batman. I think they already lost me with "Oswalda" Cobblepot.
I am annoyed by pointless gender swaps for the sole purpose of scoring diversity points. Plenty of female DC characters to be had without pulling that nonsense.
If it actually were in the Snyderverse, I might give it a chance. James Gunn would just use it to annoy me.
I'm lucky enough to be able to subscribe to many/most. The two major ones I don't have are Apple+, so I miss out on a few that I might have otherwise caught (Severance and Foundation, and then maybe I would have watched Ted Lasso just because it has such good word of mouth) and Peacock (which I don't really jones for any of its exclusives). The thing is even with those, it's usually only one or two series that I binge for a while and then nothing. Paramount+ I've been watching regularly for the various Trek shows, and I'll catch things like Matlock if I fail to record it on the DVR or want a rewatch. I also loved Mobland and look forward to that coming back next month. HBO Max: Currently watching Lanterns, a fan of House of Dragons and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms., and It was another good one, It seems like HBO has been very successful in having at least one banger for the Sunday night slot Haven't yet watched the Pitt, but maybe I'll make time for it. And there's the DC content which I will periodically enjoy. D+: Mainly there for Marvel content, like Daredevil: Born Again, X-Men 97. Haven't kept up with SW content like Andor S2, Ahsoka, Darth Maul and such, but eventually may tune in for that. As far as Hulu, I watch Only Murders in the Building, but I haven't gotten around to a lot of the Hulu content that people say is good, like The Bear. Was tempted to give Paradise a try but haven't gotten around to it. Netflix: It's been a while since I've watched stuff on it, but I really like Wednesday, Bridgerton, Black Mirror and the occasional trashy reality TV shows on it like Love Is Blind. Starz: I got it because there was a $1 for a year deal and I wanted to watch Spartacus: House of Ashur. Which was pretty good, sad they cancelled it. I don't know if there is anything else I want to watch there in the remaining 3 months I've got on my subscription. Probably rewatch OG Spartacus for like the third time. Amazon Prime: I'm currently watching Reacher, enjoyed The Boys and Gen V, Invincible, Fallout. I watched that Countdown series out of loyalty to Jensen Ackles, but I'm not particularly sad it's gone.
