Smartphones required to have replaceable batteries. I had a phone that I had to replace, the battery started to swell up on it. The phone worked fine, would have been nice to just replace the battery instead of the entire phone.
iPhones didn’t. My cousin was intent on getting me on an iPhone when they first came out and that was one of his selling points. iPhone has technology that shuts down the incoming power when the battery is full. I went through probably 3 batteries before I caved and bought and iPhone.
