It really is. It took me 10 minutes to come up with the list I did, and I kept wanting to swap things out. I finally settled on the one above, but I'm already switching out movies in my head. Tom has made some really great films.

In all seriousness, he's made a lot of good movies. Catch me if you Can. Bridge of Spies. Greyhound. Going down his list on Wikipedia, it's crazy how many I've seen. I even saw Splash at a drive-in, although that's just what i'm told. I slept in the back of my mom's station wagon.

Like I don't know why you're all listing his best films. He said he had four "pretty good films." So not his best films, and certainly not his worst films (such as Angels & Demons and The Circle), but his average to above-average films.

The interview I saw (don’t know if it’s the same one posted) he said, to the affect, he didn’t think he deserved any awards. He didn’t think any of the films he had done were noteworthy. Then he said, well, … I’ve done maybe 4 pretty good films.

So, we were playing guessing games at which ones he thinks were better than the rest.

Hanks, like most people, is his own worst critic. But, most everyone else can probably name … 10 (as evidenced in this thread alone) very good films in which Hanks has starred.

This is just false modesty bullshit. But he got us talking about his filmography, so he has that going for him, which is nice.

    My favorites:

    Bachelor Party
    Big
    Apollo 13
    You've Got Mail
    The Green Mile
    Toy Story
    Charlie Wilson's War
    Greyhound
    Polar Express
    Sleepless in Seattle
    Saving Private Ryan
    Road to Perdition
    Bridge of Spies

And of course he produced and directed Band of Brothers.

Fuck you, you no talent hack. :D

I have probably seen Bachelor Party more than most films, and quite possibly 6-10 times because it was part of the very limited video library I had as a kid. Back in my day, we didn't have all that fancy streaming on demand stuff. And we LIKED it. Haven't seen it this millennium though, I don't think.

I haven't seen a lot of his more acclaimed films -- Apollo 13, The Green Mile, Castaway. I did see Philadelphia and Forrest Gump plus You've Got Mail and Sleepless.
