It would be a helluva twist if he were actually Melvin/Toxie. ..and stayed little after the change! Hmm, he has a son?? 80's Melvin was a teenager, and didn't have a son. A true reboot. I won't get too excited, New Line had the property, and Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to be Toxie. Gods, I haven't seen The Toxic Avenger in 25 years or more. The original came out when I was in high school and was one of the "classics" me and and a few friends considered awesome. I'm afraid a reboot is a bad idea. The original is full of transgressive humor that really entertained teenagers in the mid-80s, but any new version would have to be *really* offensive to get a similar reaction, and, especially in an age of political correctness, I doubt it would fly. The alternative is to do a straight retelling, and, while I suppose that could be done well, it will likely be comparatively tame. Guess we'll see.
Like Paladin, I saw the original back when it first came out. Put me off of Troma films forever. I suppose a straight SF rework could be an effective horror movie.
Don't we already have Joker being the Incel hero who fell into a bunch of toxic chemicals and then raped and dismembered people while pretending to be the hero? Wouldn't both of them be more likely to kill their fanbase for fun? They are both disfigured from the brew and were tossed into their brew by a rich, self rightious, asshole who thought he was god's gift to the world. Maybe we do have a reboot called Batman. A reboot couldn't suck any worse than jack doing dance numbers while trying to rape the damsel in distress. Someone throw jarad leto in a vat of deadly toxic chemicals so he can have reality in getting the character right. Then we can get on bringing Heath back to life.

Kill 3 birds with one stone and have Bacon be invisible and add some graboids to the mix and it could be an invisible man remake sequel and the long awaited tremors return now that gummer is little bits. If you tie them all in together you will have more movies than the MCU

Dinklage might be really good in the role if they keep to a more trauma feel. I like PD in his roles, but I know there has to be more funny small people in hollywood for these roles.

If enough people go to see it for Dinklage and Bacon, and spread good word of mouth, this could be another Deadpool.

I will wait to read this until after I see the movie as obviously it is spoiling one of the scenes I am watching the movie for. I am actually gettiung good vibes about this considering there is a guts out of a butthole scene. There was that worry that the new people would not know the true essence of what the audience to toxic avenger is actually there to see. Like maybe they were thinking they could clean it up for the wider audience appeal, and some movies should be for the fringe of us who demand a guts out of a butthole scene. I think I will have to rewatch the originals, and maybe hobo with a shotgun and dead alive before seeing this hopeful new work of art. Is dinklage just the best little person ever? Has there ever been a movie or show that has not been made by his presence? I hate game of thrones, but if you had a dinklage cut I would be the biggest fan ever.
So!! I'm sure like me, you've been wondering "WTF is taking so long?". Studios and theaters are pussies, and deem it "unreleaseable". They say "marketing wise, it's too 'out there'". Oh, bullshit. Yeah, it's gory, but so is Deadpool, and so was "Brightburn" I know what it is, and they're too chickenshit to openly say it. Its the thing that's always dogged Troma movies. The openly left-wing politics. For all the diaper wetting CHUDville does about "woke Hollywood" you can't do "Captain Planet" level wearing of leftism on your sleeve. You can't do "The Last Supper" without the murderous lefties getting punished. That's what Toxie is. He's R rated gory Captain Planet. He's super powered "The Last Supper" kids without Ron Perlman killing him. And big-Hollywood is scared to put that movie out period, much less after a Trump assassination attempt. So, this movie might just end up another "Batgirl" and "Coyote vs Acme". And unless a gutsy streamer grabs it, it looks like that's where it's going.
The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off. The right can have their violence fantasies. Red Dawn. Rambo, especially 2,3, and 5. All the Death Wishes. Pretty much all of Chuck Norris's creative output. If we ever respond in kind, out come the fucking fainting couches, and the boycotts. Very few of these movies even exist to point to. "The Last Supper". The Toxies, especially 2 and 3. "Troma's War" is basically left-wing Rambo. George Romero's "Bruiser" is anti-yuppie Punisher. That's about it.
