The last few times I've filled up my car after about a gallon of gas the pump shuts off. It shuts down like it is full after every gallon, even if I had been running on fumes and there is no gas in the car. Help!! It's damn annoying.
Sometimes it has to do with how the pump spigot is seated in the tank valve. Try withdrawing the spigot about a half inch to an inch and letting it sit that way. It sounds like the plumbing is creating an artificial backflow that triggers the shutoff. It works like a champ for me with my vehicles. I was thinking of all kinds of naughty metaphors here but I totally restrained myself.
Yeah, try that. My old work truck would have the same problem occasionally and pulling the nozzle out just a little bit usually did the trick. Sometimes the shutoff sensors in those nozzles malfunction, too, I think.
Yep.....one of the POS used cars my son had a couple of years ago had the same problem. You had to hold that nozzle at just the right angle.
I'm surprised Flow wouldn't have a lock on this. No farmer tribal knowledge on stubborn gas pumps? Anyway, try it- betcha it fixes the problem. Oh, and
I've heard of this problem with Camrys before. What you want to do is grab the spigot and walk to the front of the car. Extend your arm out fully until it is about centered over your grill. Then depressing the trigger, and keeping your arm extended, slowly walk to the back of the car. Light a match, throw it on the trunk, and then walk away. Use the insurance money to buy a Ford Fusion.
Satisfying if perhaps not practical, but having driven both I categorically deny that a Fusion is in any way better than a Camry. What Aenea really needs is a '78 Corvette Stingray convertible.
It does it with every pump, this isn't specific to a certain station. And just putting the tip in rarely helps either. Perhaps if there were some way to tea bag the tank...
As flow said it happens with all pumps. ANC I do not want to pay for another car at this time. I just want this one to work for around 5 more years or 100,000 more miles. Which ever comes first.
