What the fuck is he doing in this piece of shit after just having been in the best role of his life over at Westworld?

I don't watch Westworld/don't have HBO/I don't know.

This is the only good Tranformers movie...

It baffles me that people line up to see this trash.

I'll do what I did for the last three, go watch and make a number of mental edits shorting the running time and improving the story...

They all had a good core, to which Bay decided to glue as much tacky shit as he could find, making the result a much lesser movie than it should've been. He's the kind of person who'd bling up a Swiss Army knife with glitter and by replacing every useful tool with a completely useless one.

I thought the first Transformers movie (live action) wasn't too bad. It had a lot of novelty going for it.

But I've never liked the "movie look" of the robots. They seem to be too "alienish" and not the blocky look of both the toys and the tv series where the connection in look between the robots and the vehicles they could turn in to was obvious.

The look someone took a pile of scrap metal and put together robots.

Fixed that for you.

At least there's not quite as many close-up action shots in the later movies. You can sometimes actually tell who's who and what's supposed to be happening during fights now.

Michael Bay needs to be killed.

It's a shame that in this era of great Super hero movies, fantasy movies and such, certain producers and directors still just feed us crap and slap a brand name on it and peaple still eat it up.

I've heard the excuse regarding making crappy Transformers movies for years:

"It's alien robots fighting each other. How seriously can you really take it?"

Actually, dang near any subject on any movie can sound stupid if you push it far enough.

I've seen that argument on TBBS back in the day, it's lazy. If Christopher Nolan thought like that, then we wouldn't have had his awesome Batman trilogy.

These are really, really, really bad movies that don't hold up well at all. Just fucking hot garbage.

I'd love to see the whole thing rebooted with no involvement by Bay or anyone else associated with these movies. We deserve a new take that will burn the existence of these movies out of our minds forever.

FYI, Bay is responsible for coining the phrase "high concept picture." Yeah, don't think it means an intelligent film.

I thought "high concept picture" meant (in regards to science fiction) movies like "Gattaca" and "Minority Report".

Nope. I thought the same thing, until I heard the details about the phrase and who coined it. Bay used it to sell one of his shitty movies to Follywood, and we've been stuck with it ever since.

Could this be due in part to "giant robot science fiction" being more a staple of sci fi productions in Asia?

I'm going to go see it, mainly as I do appreciate the ability to switch my brain off. Not anticipating much though.

Last couple of Transformers movies had solid cores that could've led to really decent films, and even though Bay did his level best to scrub those cores away they were still partially visible, screaming for a less batshitty director. This one doesn't even look like that.

I'm expecting absolutely zero sense and a level of godawfulness never before witnessed.
