One of Trump's better appointments would have been Chad Chronister as head of DEA. Chronister has been Sheriff of Hillsborough County, Florida since 2017 and there haven't been any real scandals, although the right-wing echo chamber was outraged by his arrest of a mega church pastor for violating lockdown by holding services which threatened to become super spreader events. He also supported the idea of creating a diverse department that looked more or less like the community at large. Chronister has declined the post, which from one standpoint is too bad, since he was pretty much an ideal candidate: law enforcement professional, with experience running a large agency and no overt hint of corruption. It raises the question of 1) why Trump even gave him a moment's consideration and 2) why did Chronister turn it down? Chronister is widely believed to be angling to become the next Mayor of Tampa, which office is elected but officially non-partisan. I also wonder if anyone on Trump's team actually asked him if he wanted the job before they announced he was the choice.

I do have to wonder what the fight looks like between Elon and the Trump admin vs. all the other rich people and big corporations. It seems to me that a lot of Trump's fans involve disabling the ability of their customers and government subsidies that make up their profits.

What is big Pharma going to do with RFK attacking their medical sales?
What are big retailers going to do when Social Security and welfare are cut?
What are doctors and hospitals going to do when the ACA is gone and pre-existing conditions that were diagnosed now eliminate their customers from insurance?
What are doctors and hospitals who take medicaid and medicare going to do when that is gone?

Are all of these people going to sit down and watch as their customers are stripped of the ability to purchase their products and services? All of these so called entitlement programs really go directly to the profits of large corporations because most people who get them have to spend them unlike twats like Trump. You will kill shipping, farming, supermarkets, stores like walmart, tourism, housing, and cause a huge collateral ripple in job cutting across every industry if you take away the money from Social Security, Medicare, and welfare programs.

There is a difference. Not performing an operation or giving medicine due to an economic threat that will ruin you means money matters to you. In medicine do the doctors know that killing medicare is going to unemploy a shit ton of doctors and drive down their salaries as they compete in a marketplace with a huge glut of practitioners because the large mass of people cannot afford medicine without government subsidies.

The problem with the argument against socialized medicine is that we have already infused the federal and state government into the system so much that cutting off those sources will kill a lot of the organism. They may watch a person die so they do not lose their practice, but will they watch medicare die if it means losing their practice.
