The party that argued if we allow gay marriage, it's a slippery slope to defending pedophilia and beastiality is LITERALLY now defending pedophiles and beastiality.

IF they aren't lying — and with this administration, that's a really big "if" — then there could be a decent point here, depending on how the original prohibition worked.

Wasn't Linda Lovelace coerced into having sex with dogs? That would be a situation where the human is also a victim. So if the question was "have you ever engaged in bestiality, and if you answer yes you're disqualified and if you answer no and we find out you were lying and you're also disqualified," then the change might be legitimate.

However, the fact that they're talking about bestiality and animal cruelty, and I believe they're also specifically talking about cases where the act was done before the age of 18, makes me suspect the thought process was more like this:

"Wait, this would rule out guys who liked to torture cats when they were kids! The people we want to hire are the kind of people who would have tortured cats when they were kids. I tortured cats when I was a kid!"

When even Erik Erikson can see it you have to wonder why the media pretends not to

Yes, it’s more likely that a younger person ... will post imagery to be provocative, but they’re simply reflecting the values modeled by the Republicans who came before them and for whom they’re now working."

Even Fox News can see what's wrong with Trump's ban on media outlets whose reporting he doesn't like:

Networks pull out of White House TV pool in solidarity with CNN

Major TV networks that rotate covering the president for wider media distribution say they will not do so moving forward after President Trump banned three media outlets from the White House last week.

Fox News Media, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News and CNN responded to the ban in a rare joint statement, saying “the public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government.”

“No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting,” the outlets added.

The statement came after the White House pool said in a note to subscribers on Monday that “effective today, the TV pool will not be covering events designated as pool coverage of the President.”

“This follows the White House’s position preventing CNN from fulfilling its assigned pool duties. There will be no replacement pool put in place,” the group noted.

    been sayin'
His whole governing philosophy is "Who's gonna stop/make me?"

"The ads are unambiguously illegal — & that’s the point. Again & again, this regime has broken the law not just to accomplish some immediate goal, but as a dominance display to say to everyone: Donald Trump does whatever he wants, & nobody can stop him."

Polling shows the president in free fall. Unfortunately, a number of his most reactionary policies still have disturbing levels of support.

America Has Turned on Trump. But Has It Really Said No to Fascism? | The New Republic

"Many Americans would be largely OK with fascism so long as they felt the economy was improving for themselves personally. The problem for the GOP is that fascism caters to the wealthy elite, causing average Americans to suffer."
    ----------------
But tucked away in all this relatively good news are some disturbing trends that say a lot about both Republicans and the United States in general. Many of Trump’s most violent, authoritarian policies remain broadly popular with his base, and are his most popular ones among the public in general. Notably, for example, the public in general approves (barely) of his policy on deportations.

The same Verasight poll found that the public gives Republicans a one-point advantage on their handling of deportations, a five-point edge on crime and public safety, and an 11-point cushion on border security. These would seem to show public support for Trump’s most violent and authoritarian policies, including ICE murders of civilians, airstrikes on random boats, and ensuring “public safety” by forcing transgender people out of public life.

For anyone who has forgotten, Trump has assembled a brutal, unaccountable national police force that operates in secrecy and arrests anyone it wants to based on skin color or how they speak. There is no effective oversight to be found. They’re running concentration camps with a significant body count, with at least 57 people dying in ICE detention in Trump’s second term, according to the ACLU, and torture rooms at the infamous and since-closed Alligator Alcatraz.

American citizens, and those in the country legally, are routinely and violently detained and experience great bodily injury and even death. ICE has shot and killed two Americans who were no threat to them. After Alex Pretti and Renee Good were murdered by officers, they were initially labeled as domestic terrorists. ICE agents also murdered Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Houston. ICE claimed he tried to run over an agent, but multiple witnesses contradicted that statement. The Trump administration has blocked states from investigating ICE when its agents randomly kill people.

It is disturbing that roughly half the U.S. population is OK with all this and 77 percent of Republicans are all for it. Sixty-one percent of Republicans want no pathway to citizenship, and instead prefer deporting everyone, including those brought into the country as children. For these individuals, deportation to places where they neither speak the language nor have any connections is effectively a death sentence. In some cases, people who were in the country legally and face deportation are committing suicide rather than returning.

Two days before DOJ issued its memo abandoning the landmark Olmstead decision, Stephen Miller’s team previewed the broader strategy at a secret White House meeting with advocates and conservative think tank leaders.

How Trump’s homelessness crackdown became a sweeping retreat from disability rights

the inside story of how Trump’s displeasure with seeing homeless people in D.C. became the first domino in a series of actions that culminated in the administration’s stunning decision to weaken the rights of millions of disabled Americans to live in their homes and communities.

Once again ... shallowest motherfucker who ever lived.

Any normal human being's objection to homelessness is that people don't have homes.

Trump's is that he thinks homeless people don't look good, so somebody should lock them up.

Oh, and disabled people look icky too, so they should be locked up alongside the homeless or just allowed to die.

A pretty interesting behind the scenes look into the Trump grifting sphere, starring Kimberly Guilfoyle, who turns out is exactly the person I thought she was. It's worth a read

These people are phonies, fakes and fraudsters who can barely manage their own lives but have no problem preaching to everyone else how they should be

$800k a year in podcast income for this person, paid for by god knows who, I find that particularly awful
