It's a shift away from cheap whiskey today. Covid created a bubble of consumption that distillers overreacted to. Besides it's bourbon. Who cares?
Guess these tariffs are in the pasta tense... https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-italian-pasta-tariffs-dropped_n_6956aa70e4b0ed8017e0734d
Liberal post from a liberal rag. Take that, paladin... I think tariffs should have been in place decades ago to avoid financing an enemy's economy and forcing manufacturing to flee. But Trump's fickle and egocentric methodology is fucked. Still... https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/08/....lYqo.ZyutJyX1Q6Ce&smid=nytcore-android-share
Welp Carney actually did it and struck a trade deal with china. Duties on Chinese electric cars go from 100% to 6% and similar drop the other way on canola out of Canada. I haven’t looked at the full thing yet but those are pretty major On the one hand we’re trading one country that constantly manipulates tariffs for another and china is china. But this should make things cheaper for Canadians overall. Also the Twitter bots are very angry about this so that’s usually a good thing Weill have to go through it more but this is just a massive shift in the Canadian economic and political sphere
Carney also told Trump to dial it the fuck back on Greenland, which - whilst it needed saying - might have been better timed around this annoucement as the MAGA lot are now gonna lump him in as a Chinese stooge.
I think carney’s govt has made it quite clear they aren’t all that concerned with what MAGA thinks about them. As of now we are the farthest apart in our relationship with America than we ever have been
^ In the same day Trump told everyone that he wasn’t going to do anything to help lower the price of housing while going to bat for people who own private jets Tells you all you need to know yet some people still think he’s a man of the people, it’s hilarious
Which, for some reason, makes me wonder where @Steal Your Face is. Hey FF, you still think Trump is fighting for you and yours?
They think their supporters are complete fucking morons If i went to my AGM at my company and bragged about a 1% increase in sales I’d get laughed out of the room
Sometimes. There are plenty of useful idiots. There are also those like @Paladin who are objectively smart people. They haven't been tricked into supporting anything Trump is doing, they have consciously and intentionally embraced it. They are the really dangerous ones.
