The last hardcore Trumper in our little group fell this week. We were discussing the latest horrors, and even he responded "guys, I don't know what happened. He wasn't like this in 2016, he just seems like a completely different guy and if I knew he was going to be like this I wouldn't have voted for him."

He still thinks immigration is a problem, but he thinks Trump's being a bastard the way he's trying to push ICE into Democratic US cities.

the real tipping point will be if such folks can be made to see that the immigration system is DESIGNED to keep voters like him mad about it, not to solve any actual problems.

Solutions exist, but the majority (including many Dems) have been persuaded that the only thing we can do is maximum exclusion.

Agreed. I've been working on it, but I have to admit that for these much older white guys, the racism problem is still present for some of them. I'll keep at it, though. With how these guys have been changing, I think they're honestly decent guys who have just been comfortable about being lied to their whole lives, and never thought to investigate whether or not anything they were told was actually true. It's that white privilege we enjoy in this country.
