The thing is, with all of this, a lot of people here in the US are being introduced to Democratic Socialism, and they like what they see. Mamdani being a prime example who was trotted out by the GOP as being Joseph Stalin incarnate, and he ends up being popular, warm, friendly, and someone people believe they can hopefully trust and rely on. The GOP needs to pay attention, as do the Democratic politicians who think they can just pull the rug over people's eyes, that things are bad, they are very bad, and people are seeing Democratic Socialism as a potential answer. The more these dumbasses fearmonger it, the more appealing it will become as a result of the Streisand Effect.

As an actual communist, I can say that Democratic Socialism is the compromise at this point. People are tired of dying for rich assholes who pay other rich assholes to tell them scary stories about having universal healthcare and a roof over their head without working themselves to death.

There are three possible explanations here ... I'm wondering which one is right.

1) They're so incompetent that they can't keep from telling on themselves. (Frequently the case with this administration, but in this particular instance I think it's less likely.)

2) They're so confident that nobody will stop their naked corruption that they're just going "whaddaya gonna do about it?"

3) Jeffrey Novak, the DOE attorney who filed this stipulation, felt obligated to file something truthful and will soon get fired for his honesty.
