First few episodes of Emerald City have been uneven but some nice potential, particularly concerning Tip (future Princess Ozuma?)

SUE was da shit, particularly if you love wordplay and/or Patrick Warburton

Riverdale was fascinating. All teen-ancsty but, apart from Miss Grundy, the way they nailed the various characters was fascinating.

Does Netflix count in this thread?

I just finished The Santa Clarita Diet and loved it. Wicked little black comedy and a fresh take on a genre that had seemed played out. Timothy Olyphant (Justified, Deadwood) and Drew Barrymore are terrific as a married couple facing a very unusual problem.

Nathan Fillion even has a guest shot!

I couldn't find the thread, but 12 Monkeys returned the other day. The whole third season dropped over a three day event, I really enjoyed it. It will get one more season, then end.

Several of those shows were actually already in their final seasons. Most of the rest I have never heard of. I hope these shows end up on Netflix, though. I wouldn't mind finding a gem of a new show.

late to the update on this one and a lot of what I'm gonna list is already in active discussion elsewhere.

ST-D and The Orville of course.
The Gifted as premiered and looks pretty interesting.
Inhumans and Black Lighting just because genre

Some other stuff further out in the future, and a lot of returning shows.

The networks really didn't dd a lot of stuff that attracts me this time.

current state of affairs for the fall...

    Manifest (Drama) *SERIES ORDER*
    Cast: Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh
    W/EP: Jeff Rake
    EP: Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke
    Co-EP: Jackie Levine
Synopsis: In this character-driven, high-concept mystery thriller, a plane disappears from radar and is presumed lost at sea—only to return years later. No time has passed for those on the plane, but for their loved ones at home, many years have gone by. The series follows their personal lives as well as the larger mystery and purpose that is their destiny.

My take: not sure Josh Dallas has the chops to carry heavy drama but I'll check it out for the concept even if I'm certain it won't make it out of the first season

    Suspicion (Drama)
(Based on the book by Joseph Finder)
Cast: Derek Luke, Jeri Ryan, Raul Esparza
    C/W: Jessica Goldberg
EP: Jessica Goldberg, Rachel Kaplan, Peter Traugott, Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman
Synopsis: A Hitchcockian thriller about how far one man will go to save the people he loves.

Lean into the Hitchcock and you might get my attention

    Take Two (Drama) *SERIES ORDER*
    Cast: Rachel Bilson, Eddie Cibrian
W/EP: Andrew Marlowe, Terri Edda Miller
    EP: Rola Bauer, Tim Halkin
Synopsis: Take Two revolves around Sam (Rachel Bilson), the former star of a hit cop series, fresh out of rehab following an epic bender. Desperate to restart her career, she talks her way into shadowing rough-and-tumble private investigator Eddie (Eddie Cibrian) as research for a potential comeback role. Although lone wolf Eddie resents the babysitting gig, high-spirited Sam proves herself to be surprisingly valuable, drawing on her acting skills and 200 episodes of playing a detective. When the press touts Sam's role in solving a high-profile case, Eddie finds his phone ringing off the hook with new clients looking to hire the pair.

description has a a "Moonlighting" vibe but this will depend heavily on casting and writing, not otherwise the sort of show I'd notice but Lethal Weapon kind of reminded me to keep an eye out.

    The Rookie (Drama) *SERIES ORDER*
    Cast: Nathan Fillion
W/EP: Alexi Hawley, Mark Gordon, Nicholas Pepper, Michelle Chapman, Jon Steinberg, Nathan Fillion
    EP/D Liz Friedlander
Synopsis: Inspired by a true story, The Rookie centers on John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), the oldest rookie in the LAPD. At an age where most are at the peak of their career, Nolan cast aside his comfortable, small-town life and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of being a cop. Now, surrounded by rookies 20 years his junior, he must navigate the dangerous, humorous and unpredictable world of being a "young" cop and to make his second shot at life count.

If this wasn't Fillion I wouldn't sniff at it but....

    Roswell (Drama) *SERIES ORDER*
Based on the book series by Melinda Metz
Cast: Nathan Parsons, Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Jeanine Mason, Michael Trevino
    W: Carina Adly MacKenzie
    D: Julie Plec
Synopsis: Reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, NM, Liz Ortecho (Mason), a jaded biomedical researcher and the daughter of undocumented immigrants, is haunted by a tragic incident. She discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: He’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

Less teen-angsty than the original and more SF and you'll have my attention

    The Boys (Drama)
Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis
    Cast: Laz Alonso, Jack Quaid
EP: Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen, Eric Kripke
    W: Eric Kripke
Synopsis: The Boys is set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame. It revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

this and the next are Amazon series. This one is an easy call, the other has a big name cast and the involvement of Neil Gaiman

    Good Omens (Comedy)
Adapted from the book by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
Cast: Nick Offerman, Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Anna Maxwell Martin, Josie Lawrence, Adria Arjona, Michael McKean, Jack Whitehall
    D/EP: Douglas Mackinnon
Synopsis: The series is an apocalyptic comedy set in modern times. Offerman will play a US ambassador and the father of the child named Warlock, who is mistakenly believed to be the antichrist.

    ---------------------------
A rather thin crop, frankly, so far.

However, this is coming up soon....

    which I'm jazzed for

and Cloak & Dagger looks like it might be good.

Finally watched the finale. They really did a good job with this series and tied up everything really well. Jennifer was probably my favorite and one of the best characters in television history. I’m glad they managed to fit in some really funny moments with really good drama. Sad to see it go, but it ended well.

one of the better series finales you will ever see. Great attention to detail and that in the context of a headache-inducing level of complexity. I'll have to re-watch the whole series at some point just to pick up all the threads.

Also, my favorite ended up being Deacon - tremendous character growth and a damn fine actor (would love to see him wearing Starfleet Captain's stripes ion the near future)

Although Jennifer was my favorite for most of the series and is a close runner up (also very well acted)

Thinking about 12 Monkeys more, I’d really like to see someone make a YouTube video that kind of shows all of the connections throughout the series. I’m seriously impressed that the writers were able to connect everything the way they did, I’m guessing some things were planned all along and some they had to rewatch episodes to make everything work the way it did. It’s really impressive and the Westworld writers should take note if they want to make season three worthwhile.

okay so I missed remarking on this, so I'll start my calendar on July 11:

Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters - How can you not love the notion of this show?

Stephen King's Castle Rock drops July 25
    Disenchanted on August 17

Turns out there's damned little NEW series coming up this year of the sort I get interested in

I completely forgot that season 2 of Snowfall started tonight until I saw that my DVR had recorded it.

And only about 2.5 weeks until S4 of Better Call Saul. :walz:

I've wound up watching "The Rookie". More for Fillion than for a taste for cop shows. Liking it for the human interactions and a very capable cast. Good mixing of action and emotion plots while showing the diversity of people and problems a modern cop has to address.
