Truthiness can overtake us all. My impressions are not a substitute for the truth and I will not expect anyone to change their minds based on them. In every scenario, the kid comes off (in my opinion) as an entitled, smug little twerp. How much different would things have been if he had made some simple gesture of respect toward the old man? To be fair, if it had been me in that position at that age, I don't know if I would come off any better. I think I was a pretty nice kid as high schoolers go, but I had my moments, like we all do at that age. As far as the old man is concerned, well protestors are out to make a point. Too bad that what could have been a teaching moment ended up as a chew toy for today's hot house media environment.
